Guys need advice. I have an Adams arms mid length tactical elite. If I mount magpul's buis front sight will it melt?

I am almost sure if I mount it on the gas block assembly it will melt coz of the tremendous heat generated.

How about on the samson free float rails before the gas assembly?

FWIK, if you put it on the gas block, you have a high risk of melty-goodness. They are supposed to go on a rail like you figure..

That being said, I have them on my "gas block" on my .22LR upper, which isn't really a gas block.

For 20 dollars more, unless you find a coupon you can get a set of rail height yhm non-qds and use a magpul buis rear if you are trying to keep costs down. I just bought a set of yhm qds rail height from primary arms for 143.00 shipped, which is not a bad deal at all.

Yep you're right I'm trying to save a few bucks after buying a rifle, magnifier, eotech and a suppressor , I'm kinda broke. Since its just a backup sights I hope I don't have to spend $100+ buckaroos for it.

Amazon has the magpul gen 2 plastic for like $60+ for both rear and front. But if they melt that's another matter.

I don't think I have actually ever seen a melted mbuis. It could be that it has never happened, or people were to embarrassed to post that they didn't heed the warning about them melting. I have seen a lot of pictures of adam arms uppers with arms buis which are polymer and metal reinforced. The mbuis will be fine on the samson rail right before the gasblock.

Sounds like a torture test may be needed

For $60 be sure they arent the PTS version of the sights, those come as a set usually and arent made of the same high grade polymer. They're intended for training/ airsoft and not hard use from real firearms. All the real Magpul sights I've ever seen come individually packaged, just a heads up. For whats it's worth, to save money id either go with a quality front flip sight or even a troy fixed front sight and then the mbus rear. When I contacted Magpul to ask them the exact same question you're asking they strongly advised me not to use thier front mbus on my rifle's gas block (adams arms mid length 16") and recomended Troy sights, the rail would be fine though. I wound up just ordering Troy fixed front and rear sights to go along with my Aimpoint PRO. Good luck with whatever you decide

You may not notice it "melt," but it can definitely shift the POI.

I would wait a little longer and get a reliable set of metal BUIS. You could just put the magpul on the FF rail, after all, that's why it's free floated.

I doubt it would melt, but after a few uses, the plastic will probably become brittle and crack from the constant temperature extremes. I'm with Offroader on this one; wait and get the right part for the job.

That's what i am planning to do with my AA setup. I swapped out the low profile for the railed block. I am curious about the heat transfer from the gas block.

Melt? No, but heat up enough to deform and throw off your zero? yes

Gas block gets really, really, really hot. Plastic sights are not recommended. I have a Magpul rear sight with an MI front sight om my AA upper. Works fine.
