Does anyone have experience with a Huldra Arms piston AR-15? I know they are a bit newer, but it uses a modified Adams Arms system and I am a bit interested in how well it runs.
I didn't come to this party wearing pants and I am not leaving the party wearing pants.

My opinion may be seen as biased but I really like our rifles. I was very skeptical at first when I was approached to test a rifle in an LE and competition capacity. I have become very impressed with the line up, parts used, specs, and most importantly how well they run. I have had mine in high round carbine classes, local training, and competition events in all weather types from cold snow ice winter shoots to hot August, rain, mud etc and they just plain run.

I'm sure you want outside opinions, and I can totally respect and appreciate getting an opinion from someone other then a company rep. But, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask and I would be more then happy to get you whatever information you need.

Thanks,
Dave

Mine ate everything i threw at it without any problems. It is also very easy to clean due to the melonite treatment of the barrel, piston system and bolt carrier. The melonite makes the metal slick, after my range session i see no carbon build up anywhere. It is also pretty accurate after it's been sighted in. The best part for me was Huldra will back up their products.

Melonite is pretty slick. Not quite as much as NiB though.

My Huldra upper has also eaten everything. I love shooting Wolf out if it with an A2 at the local indoor range. Because I literally get none of that ammonia smell from it and the A2 throws all the carbon / lead forward instead of sticking around my face.

Clean up is also very easy. I pull off the handguards and pull the oprod out, wipe them down, light coat of whatever and put it back together. The BCG could easily go 5k and be equal to what you'd have in 1k of XM193 in a DI for carbon / lead.

As Snake said they are also accurate. Huldra claims 1 MOA on their site. I haven't gotten a chance to throw a scope on mine but with an EOTech I was able to do a 3/4" 5 shot group with AE223 at 50 yards... And I never practice precision shooting.

Also wanted to add; Huldra is very approachable. I've been in contact with them a couple times and the team always answers quickly. If anyone had a problem, I have no doubt they'd fix it immediately.

My Bro has one in 5.45X39 and dude thats the go to gun at our property. We all pitch in and buy a thousand rounds for a weekend camping trip at the property and have a whole bunch of shits and giggles with it. Maybe like 1 or 2 miss fires but not alot that I can actually count. I'm gonna be getting a upper pretty soon. One gripe I have is that we can't get the gas block off to put a rail on it. I have a DD lite rail I'm going to sell him and we can't get it off. Consider one in 5.45, I think shooting for pennies is koooool.

Thats awesome that you guys are enjoying it so much, that was part of the vision with this gun was a lot of fun for a very reasonable ammo price. The gas block pins are pressed in place, they can be removed but only should be completed by a competent armorer/gunsmith. I have removed some and they are really pressed in place and can be a challenge to remove. We wanted them to be very sturdy as we dont like screwed on gas blocks, we also wanted our rifles to be duty rifles and as such we feel the beneifts of pinning are worth it. If I can help out please let me know.

Thanks
Dave

One more question. What rail system will work with the mid-length upper? I see one available on the full rifle, but the upper comes with the basic hand guards. Thanks.

Most rail systems that are designated by the maker to be compatible with piston systems should work. Adams Arms also keeps a pretty updated list of what rails/hand guards work as well:
http://www.adamsarms.net/content.asp?content=3

We use and recommend the products by Samson Mfg, they make great stuff and are great people and we love working with them. My new favorite product of theirs is the new EVO rail. It is a tube style rail with a continuous 12 o'clock rail and can add small rail sections where needed or bolt accessories on. It is very comfortable and solid, not to mention very light weight. In order to install the EVO the gas block does need to be removed which should only be done by a certified and competent armorer/gunsmith. The Samson Star series quad rails are also great and install easy, we have a video on our youtube channel on how to do that. We also have one on the Evo installation as well, not sure if that one is up yet, but if not it will be coming soon.

Another option is the Magpul MOE hand guards. They are inexpensive and offer the modularity that a lot of users like. They are super easy to install, just like any hand guard, and there are several accessories available.

Feel free to ask any more questions,
Thanks,
Dave

Thank you Dave. That is perfect. I just sent you one more question via IM regarding the rails and your recommendations. Thanks again.
