AR15.com sees it first! Primary Arms is set to announce our new full size Advanced 30mm Red Dot on Monday, but we are giving Arfcommers a head start!



Primary Arms has only offered microdots for awhile now, but we continued to get a lot of calls and requests for full size red dots using a standard 30mm tube. We wanted to come back to the classic full size red dot, and make it better than ever. Here are the highlights:

The new one-piece body is stronger and lighter, made of 6061 aluminum and Type II hardcoat anodized black. A factory FDE coated version will be available later on this year.

The included battery is a CR1/3N, but in a pinch you can stack two LR44s instead.

The rotary brightness control knob is a big improvement over previous models. You'll notice there are two "0" settings, one on the low end and one on the high end. Unlike previous knobs that rotated continuously, this knob has a stop built into it. When you are finished shooting you don't even need to look at the unit, just reach down and twist the knob until it stops in either direction and you know the red dot is off.



The Advanced 30mm Red Dot is covered by our lifetime warranty. If a defect due to materials or workmanship, or even normal wear and tear, has caused it to malfunction, Primary Arms will either repair or replace it. You don't even need a proof of purchase.

Any standard 30mm ring type mount will work with this red dot and give the stated co-witness for that mount. Weight is 5.8 ounces, and it comes with flip caps and a rubber "octopus" cap tether to retain your turret caps.

It doesn't neutralize it or turn it yellow, but it dulls it down a shade due to the multi-coating. This was done to get maximum reflectivity / intensity out of the new generation red LED. This coating allows for over 95% light transmission into the optic for low light while maximizing dot brightness, so that's why we went with it. When I sighted in the one I put on my M4gery, I was shooting in broad daylight with no cloud cover using setting 7 out of 10, so this thing gets BRIGHT if you crank it all the way up.

Welcome to my cubicle. I pulled up a big pic of a clay pigeon and played around with it a bit, and I don't have the best eyes around anymore, but I honestly can't tell any difference at all. I took a couple of crappy cell phone photos for you for comparison. It's hardly scientific, but it's what I can do with the tools at hand.

Just a tad bit blue I would say, but really pretty minimal. I think the MD-ADS micro dot tints a bit more. Glass clarity is pretty darn good on this one.

Yes, it should fit any mount intended for Brand A and give the stated cowitness for that mount.

It's IP57 rated, which is submerged to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes.

Personally, I have a theory that if water won't get in during the first five minutes submerged it won't get in for five days submerged either, but I'm not an engineer.
