I'd guess primarily for guys building light weight AR's where they're counting every ounce they can shave off.

Or you wanna do anything to make up for that honking big ass bull barrel you stuck on there. You know because it's not like we're gonna work out more or anything.

How much weight could you actually save over standard pins?


I have a black set of titanium pins from Battle Arms Development that weigh in at 0.25 ounces combined weight for the front and rear pins. The steel versions weighed in around 0.40 ounces. Not a significant reduction in weight, but when you're building an extreme lightweight build, you eventually get into cutting fractions of an ounce per component.
