Just got it installed. Overall I like it. A bit heavier then the SLR but I really appreciate the longer rail. Also like that I was able to install the barrel nut with a standard style wrench (modified PRI).

Specs: 300blk Noveske 8.5" barrel, SDN6 (the SDN6 will be replaced with a Sandman-L)

Looks good  I would be interested in a keymod version too. Mite have to pick up one of the M-lok for my 300 blackout pistol build. Keep up the good work.

Will these be in black only?  My next two builds will be FDE and OD green. Sure would like to get them in those colors!

I like that!  Why are you changing from the SDN6?  That's the same can I'll be using on mine.

SND6 is 126db on 300blk, Sandman-L is 119-122db and one hand on/off so easier to remove when mounted under a rail. Honestly, it is just not quiet enough for me.

Thank you for the spacer in the clamp section.

I don't know how long you've had it, but my older Midwest handguard didn't have one, and I always thought it needed one.

Might have to grab one for the carbine I plan to put on a diet.

Do you know if this will go over a noveske switchblock, I don't have height measurements for the SB.

MI has another winner!

Even though I do not have any suppressors, these forends are right at home with pistols and SBRs that are equipped with flash cans, diverters, linear compensators, or whatever you want to call them.
I put the 12.625 inch SPS on a 12.5 inch 6.8 SPC 2 SBR with the excellent MI Blast Diverter.  It goes together rather well IMO, is quite light weight for such a large diameter forend, yet it is not so large that it swallows the Diverter.

When I first picked up the forend I thought MI had lost their minds.  It was heavy, very heavy.  I was very relieved when upon opening most of the weight I felt was in the barrel nut WRENCH.  The forend and barrel nut was itself quite light.
The barrel nut goes on so simply anyone can do it.  Spin it on, tighten to 20 ft-lbs, then to the next hole to align with the gas tube.  On mine, I had to go to 60-ft-lbs to get the next hole to align so everything was golden.  Slipping in the lock ring is simple enough, you cannot put it in backwards so if it goes in, its in correctly unless you are a total moron and put it in upside down.
With this forend, and this will make all those whiners who scream about putting adhesive on their barrel nuts yet feel they must use read Lock-Tite on their gas blocks and flash suppressors, no adhesive is required on this forend setup.  Tighten the two clamp screws to 50 INCH-pounds and done.  It literally takes more time to type this up than to do it.

Here is the forend as it comes out of the package sans barrel nut wrench and Mag-Pul polymer rail section.

I don't think anyone needs a pictorial of how to install this thing, it's that simple.
Here it is side on with the .30 caliber MI Blast Diverter.

And here is a forward shot showing how well the Diverter fits inside the forend without being crowded or lost.  Goldie Locks would find it just right.

Still, this forend just begs to have a suppressor used within its confines as shown by the previous poster.  And with the simple installation and fast removal, one will not have any problems if they need to remove the forend in order to remove their suppressor, whether it is unscrewing it or depressing locking tabs on the suppressor mount.  Since no bonding agent is used, there is nothing to clean up or reapply.

It turns out that 50 INCH-pounds is easily broken with a screwdriver equipped with the appropriate sized Allen bit and is only a little more than what you can tighten it up to using moderate pressure by hand.  If you really have at it you can easily exceed 50 INCH-pounds just using a screwdriver, so use a wrench if you have one handy but if not, just don't go all gorilla crazy on it.  The lock key/indexing pin is not going to let that forend go anywhere.

A little Duracoat and you can have whatever color you want, even chameleon if you cannot make up your mind!  I used Duracoat magpul FDE on a Gen 3 SSK and it turned out great.  No problems what so ever.

Recently purchase a G3 lightweight ML Series handguard. Unfortunately, it was not shipped to my address. It turned out that it was shipped to my son who also has an account with MI. Normally this would not have been a problem except he moved out of state three months ago. Fortunately the new owners of my sons home were honest and I was able to retrieve the package. I e-mailed MI several weeks ago about this issue and never received a response. How can I order future products from them if I am not certain as to where its going to be shipped? BTW: I love the handguard.

My main concern about this beautiful rail is the tabs that mate up to the upper.  I plan on building a side charing 300 blkout but doubt this would fit  with those tabs

Troy (or anyone else from MI),
I have an 8.5" barrel along with a Noveske KX3, I'd like the KX3 (3.28" OAL ) to stick out about 2/3rds (1.64") from the end of the handguards.
Which rail do you feel would fit the bill, the 9.25" or 10.5"? I've tried doing the math, but without the handguards in hand it's a guessing game. I'm not sure if the handguard retaining nut adds or subtracts from the length. To be honest I suck at the whole estimating barrel to handguard length.
Your help is extremely appreciated.
Thank you,
Tip

You have your barrel, KX3, and upper.  You have all you need to take some simple measurements.  Measure from the end of you upper receiver rail to the end of the KX3.  Then subtract your 1.64 inches you stipulate.
Now go to MI's web site and do a little reading.  MI has listed on their web site the measurement of the rail which is from the front end of the receiver to the end of the rail.  From measuring my 8.5 with its KX3, to get what you want you come closest with the 10.5 inch rail but will be about a half inch longer than you stipulated, the 9.250 rail about .8 inch shorter, so do your own measurement and do not depend on what someone else tells you.  You have to make up your own mind if you want a slightly longer rail or a slightly shorter rail.  I know, it leaves you no one to blame if you screw up but that's life.

I understand, my problem is the KX3 isn't installed, and some rails have a bit of receiver over hang (so to speak), so I am using only the lengths listed on the various manufacturer's websites. With those variables I just don't want to screw it up. You are absolutely correct. Thank you.

ETA: I ordered the 10.5" upper. Thanks to Big-Bore, and Midwest Industries.
