I like it!

I always thought that the use of button head screws on rails like the NSR were cheap looking.  This looks great!

Need it for 308! Armalite barrel nut please! If you make it to SR25/DPMS high profile, all you would need is a different thread in the barrel nut.

Very cool! I wish more manufacturers would step up and start using more exotic alloys

Cheers

I dig it.

Any pics of the barrel nut?  I'm trying to get a better idea of how the rail and nut interface and attach to one another.

Thanks!

Do you have the weights? I've been trying to find that ever since these were announced at SHOT.

Looks very nice. Post weights/cost when you get the date.

Another request for weight with barrel nut included please

Yet another request for the weight with barrel nut. I THINK that and the ID" (want to make sure will still fit syrac piston kit) are the two biggest questions on everyone's mind.

I honestly don't think it will be fitting a Syrac piston kit. Or any piston kit.

That said...

...weight! I'm curious, as well.

Syrac fits under BCM KMR.... But yes, weight please.

I'll go ahead and ask Mega to provide me with final, final weights for the production models.

Unfortunately, my wedge lock rail is a production prototype in Aluminum Lithium, AND my my Titanium barrel nut is married to an upper for now.  Will report back with factory reported weights and my own measured weights once I have the final production models in

The main hallmarks of good design are

1.  Makes you go:  "why didn't I think of that"?

2.  The design is so good you don't even notice it... you think... oh, things have always been this awesome.

The Wedge Lock rails are definitely, very, very well designed.  The rail itself is both lightweight and strong, normally two attributes which are mutually exclusive.  I like the fact that they've also decided to break from the back in terms of materials.  Not a material science engineer, but what my engineer friends tell me is that 7075 is a lot more strong in terms of tensile strength and rigidity over 6061.  Perhaps, a little overkill for a handguard, but the different material definitely compliments the slicker design.

Internal Diamter on the Hodge Prototype is 1.225" left to right.  As for clearance for gas blocks, not sure what to measure... currently, I've got a Ballistic Advantage Hanson barrel with BA gas block on there and it clear.  The BA gas block is fairly beefy... and while it works with the rail, it does make MLOK mounting of an accessory where it sits impossible.  Hodge is releasing their own gas blocks and i've got em en route

Talked to Mega:

The rails are in final production stages.  All of the first run 7075 rails you've seen in photos have been from an overrun from Hodge Rails... so the actual length 7", 9", 12", 14", and 16" rails have not yet been produced and weighed.  As soon as they come off the machines they'll get me the specs.

The HDSI rail is very slightly different, and 13.58" instead of a legit 14.0". However, I'm sure they won't vary by THAT much...I wish MEGA would spill the weight on the HDSI rail/nut.

I have felt the Hodge Defense prototype rail. It feels like it was sculpted to you hand, not just tube! Amazing!
Hopefully the Mega horizontal cuts feel as good.

Will the anti rotation pin line up with Vltor MUR upper anti rotation pinhole, same as NSR location?

Is the 12" ACTUALLY 12"? Or is it longer but marketed as being 12"?

Stick, your work is beyond compare, and if anyone says otherwise they are full of crap.
But I have one tiny newbie-oriented suggestion: toss a note in on what barrel/rail length you're showing
off in a given post.  I know it's dumb to folks that eat and drink this stuff but it would be really helpful
for a lot of people I think.  Thank you for what you do.

How would you rate the stability of the rails lockup to the barrel nut?  If you put pressure on the rail does it deviate in it's alignment with the barrel any?

YES.

I want one really bad, for myself.  The Mod 2 barrels are still in prototyping phase IIRC.  Last reports on accuracy and durability was drool worthy.  Specs are, CHF, chrome lined, proprietary steel blend and that's all I'm allowed to say (I asked).
