THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
AR-15 6.8 High Capacity Magazine

The X-15 6.8 is the first dedicated drum magazine to be designed for the 6.8 mm Remington Special Purpose Cartridge. The magazine will be slightly larger than the existing .223 drum as the case diameter of the 6.8 is .045 an inch larger at the base, increasing the overall diameter of the X-15 by a .25 of an inch. The magazine will be designed specifically for this cartridge and will be based on our coil magazine technology. All components will be manufactured from billet 6061 aluminum, and steel, with an estimated overall dry weight of 1.5 lbs. Pre-Orders excepted and we will not commence production until we have 200 orders, if the minimum production requirement is not met by November 15th 2012 we will refund all pre-orders. If the purchase quantity is met, production will commence November and estimated expected delivery will be February 2013.

We've been using and selling their AR15 & X25 308 Drum mags and they work amazing. Much more robust than the polymer BETA-C Mags from our first hand experience.

Retail is $260 but INTRO PRICE of $175

I don't understand why they don't just start producing them without the pre-orders. If it is such a great product (which they obviously think it is, otherwise they would not be marketing it) it should be in production, not "give us your money now for something you may not see until March 2013, 8 months in the future).

I also don't accept their spelling of excepted,

A drum 6.8 mag sounds like a good idea though.
I'll save my thoughts on the people who can spend any amount of dollars on a rifle but can't devote 20 minutes to getting their body in shape for another thread. -skinnysarge79

I see what you did there...you've answered your own question.

XS Products is probably doing a decent business producing the .223 and .308 units and have been requested to do 6.8 as well (and probably a bunch of other calibers). However, in this economy, the consumer tends to spend more with the mouth than what they are willing to actually spend with the wallet, I see this every day in my business... talk is cheap. In XS Products eyes, why allocate working capital and production resources on a speculative product (6.8) when you can continue pumping out a known income source (.223 & .308) at full capacity? They're doing the right thing by testing the market as to what the real interest is in a 6.8 drum. Nothing says "I'm a serious customer" like money up front. Cudos to XS Products for coming right out and saying exactly what they intend to do. Most companies these days would keep intentions like that real quiet.

I've seen the XS Products up close and they are very, very nicely done. Great fit and finish and beats the hell out of the composite drums in construction. A drum mag doesn't fit well with my style of shooting, but I'm getting closer and closer to picking one up just for the "coolness" factor of how they look on a rifle. Having a daughter that likes to run a long string of shots doesn't help.

If they work with all of Silver State Ammo's offerings...I might pick one up....

If 6.8 falls in price I'd be looking for one too, AND the x39 variant

Prepaying for a product is like giving the girl you just met $50 for a cab ride home from your place. ;)
