New from CORE15 is our StressProof® Steel Barrel Nut. 100% CNC machined for exact tolerances, no punch press operations what so ever. The CORE15 Barrel Nut is an upgraded alternative from the mil-spec barrel nut that is being used today.

  • Manganese Phosphate Finish
  • Stressproof® is made by a patented process which consists of drawing the bar through a special die under heavy draft, then stress relieving it in a pricisely controlled furnace.
  • When Niagara LaSalle developed Stressproof® in 1938, it changed the economics of part production. Because for the first time, users could get an improved wearability without case hardening, strength without heat treating, plus excellent machinability and tool life
  • STRESSPROOF® is electro-magnetically tested using eddy currents. Other benefits include resistance to fatigue and stress, balanced working and minimum warpage and distortion.

I'm upset. This nut will not work with my Troy Alpha rail as quoted in your other thread.
This is von Clausewitz shit, total fucking war. I'm going to pull the whole thing down. I'm gonna pull the whole thing down. I'm gonna bring the whole fuckin' diseased, corrupt temple down on your head. It's gonna be biblical.

We never stated or claimed they would work with the Troy Alpha Rail. We did state that they would work with rails that utilize a mil-spec barrel nut. It was unforeseen that they would not work with the Troy Alpha rail as we did not have one on hand to test fitment. All of the rails that we currently use on our builds worked with our barrel nut. We do not have any plans to change the design of our barrel nut. The small lip that is not cut into our barrel nut is done so on purpose. This increases the strength of the barrel nut beyond that of the standard mil-spec barrel nut.

That being said, I apologize for the confusion and if anyone has purchased our barrel nut to use with a specific rail that is not compatible with it, we will gladly issue a refund or make an exchange for a standard barrel nut.

If anyone finds any other rails that our barrel nut does not work with, please let us know. If there is a large enough list of rails that do not work with it, and the demand is there, we may be open to making a run that does have the "lip" cut into it specifically for these rails. Thanks.

Will your barrel nut work with the Apex Handguard system?

We have not attempted to use the Apex system with our barrel nuts as of yet. I would recommend contacting Apex and getting the specifics on how their rail mounts up to the barrel nut.

To be fair, you did:

Troy Alpha Rails use standard mil-spec barrel nuts (Fact)

Core-15 barrel nuts work with rails that utilize mil-spec barrel nuts (stated)

Therefore, the Core-15 barrel nut must work with the Troy Alpha Rail (valid logical outcome based upon fact and statement above)

Regardless, glad to see you guys making it right. Curious, is there a specific shortcoming of a mil-spec barrel nut that necessitated the creation of this product? Disregard, saw the stated reasoning in another thread by Core-15

Apex uses a two piece system that bolts onto a GI barrel nut. The inner diameter is the same from front to back- it locks into the barrel nut's teeth, so it would appear to work if Core15's barrel nut is the same thickness between the upper receiver and the teeth.

It would be interesting for Core15 to do an accuracy test of the same barrel, upper, bolt, ammo, optic etc to see if this barrel nut contributes to any measurable increase in accuracy.
