Looking for a couple of knurled washers.
Found the duckbills.
Saw a couple of them on GB but at office & couldn't bid.
Also saw a demilled duckbill that had no washer\spacer
Any help would be appreciated.

I've noticed different knurl patterns over the years. I don't think anyone had mentioned which are which.

Some looked better than other.

Does anyone know if they belong on with a grenade ring? I've seen them both ways.

On a 601.  Yes.

I'd assume the 177 yes also.  How else will the hider stay tight ?

Yes, they belong on the rifle even if it has a grenade ring.

Getting into the weeds, but that's what we do here, right?... On the XM177E2 (or GAU-5A/A), in practice, the lock washer was often used inside the grenade ring (at least from what I saw in the Air Force).  But, by the tech data, no lock washer is installed.  It only shows the moderator and the grenade ring behind it (which is called a "suppressor washer").  The NSN for the standard lock washer is 1005-992-7280.  The NSN for the grenade ring (or suppressor washer) is 1005-087-9001.

I think the latest barrel I've ever personally owned that came with a knurled washer is a cast fsb MVP12 barrel.

Nope, all knurled washers DO have knurling, but you have to know what you are looking for.  Side by side, laying flat, knurled washers look just like standard washers.  However, side by side on edge, it is easy to see the difference (the knurled one is on the right in both photos)

I just checked some of my parts kits, and I have two factory C MP C uppers that both have knurled washers.  I also have four verified Vietnam bringback XM16E1 parts kits, three vith M VP barrels (no cast front sights), and one with an MP barrel, and all of them came with knurled washers.

It came up sometime after you and I found the black painted 601 furniture and before the big discussion / conflagration about "are A2's retro yet?"
Probably around 2010-ish.
