~Two years ago, I built the C7 rifle that I'd been after, and a couple of months ago, I replaced it the flat top upper receiver on my carbine with a spare that I had in my bin. Two of my favorite rifles. The carbine is so light that it feels like a toy, and the rifle is unbelievably accurate (there's a funny little range story about that).

Except for the C7 upper (with an A2 aperture) and 20" pencil barrel (1:8" twist), there's not a lot "retro" about it. However, since you asked :

Yours is one of my favorite C7's, along with one that belongs to, I think, Aeneas2020. This one is his (if you don't like me posting the picture, please let me know, and I'll remove it):

John Thomas,  I'm digging the build.  That bad boy deserves a large flat side forward assist, sling (think USGI silent but with plastic triglides) and Nella stainless bayonet.

Sadly I've done nothing with my Colt CH C7 upper.  I do have an assortment of bits.  CS stock, vinyl acetate and fiberlite CAR stock, Nella bayonet, sling, C8 cleaning kit pouch, handguards (C7 and C8), and Cdn Thermold mags (neutered to 5rds).  Someday I'll do something with them.

I did a C7 rifle and back when they were cheap, I built a frankin AR carbine Duracoated blue tiger stripped for my Daughter. She really loves that one.

My first AR.  The upper has since been parted out.  Upper went to an Arfcommer in... Illinois if I recall correctly.   Barrel went to another arfcommer who needed a pencil barrel with a FSB.

I have more pics but they are also in photobucket which I have abandoned because it is fucking cancer for some reason.  Absurdly slow and impossible to use.  Imgur for me now.

I just sold one of those for like $130 in the EE. If I kept it, I'd just built another AR... Figured better to sell and use the $ to finish the SP1 (style) AR I was currently building instead.

Thanks very much.  It has the correct sling on it now (these are some older pics).  I was going to make a big forward assist for it, but have 7,291 things going on, so probably won't happen for a while.

Built just for a fun build. I had the parts laying on the bench so, I used them.
I may change the hand guards to triangle, the pistol grip to A1, & the flash hider to 3 prong.
Maybe change the delta ring to a flat ring.

I was going to say, that rifle is BEGGING for the 3-prong and A1 conversion to make yourself a nice 605 clone.

I got into the parts boxes to change up the one I had posted above.
Then I remembered that I had put together some of these in the past year or two.
So! I started opening up some safes and found a few to post some pictures of.
So! I am going to leave the one above alone for now.
I sometimes build them so it makes it easier to pick out the parts for another build.
Sometimes I just grab parts and build them for fun.
There are more built with the C7 uppers, but this give you an idea how to store parts.

Enjoy!
RON

Not for purists but below is my C7/A1 mish-mash (Disregard the bayo it was a Christmas gift)

I wanted an A1 "looking" rifle because that was the M16  I remember as a kid.

Maybe someday I will buy a Nodak unfenced lower for it...

Actually one of my favorites as it turns out.

I came close to building one almost identical, but with a Spike's lightweight dissipator barrel. Problem is, the gas block on that barrel didn't fit underneath a set of triangle handguards, and I wasn't going to modify them. For that build, I made an M4 carbine instead and wound up selling the barrel. If and when C7 receivers are available and actually priced accordingly again (sub $80), I'll buy a few more.

I really need some fresh pics of this gun.  I went back to an A1 grip and an M16 sling and like the gun even better for it.

C7/A1/A2 hybrid.  Handles like an AR-15 should!
