Started the XM177E2 build a few weeks ago by getting parts together. I really wanted to do this one near fully correct, and it hasn't been an easy road to find everything.

The majority of parts came from genofromreno and others from boywonder. Upper came from a member here, and the NDS A1 lower is waiting to be sent from a member here to my FFL.

The upper is a correct early 603 without forge codes and has the Colt stamps above the front of the port door.

Barrel and gas tube is a Colt carbine CMP Chrome Bore.

Flash hider/grenade ring is from Brick.

Handguards are original Colt 6 hole.

LPK is surplus Colt modified to semi.

Bolt/Carrier is surplus Colt.

Buttstock and 2 position tube/ring is original Colt vinyl acetate.

Buffer/spring is surplus Colt carbine.

The upper assembly is on its way to John Thomas to be cut/pinned.

Can't wait to get the lower from the member here, and the upper assembly back from John.

That's a nice parts list, should make an awesome e2. Make sure to post pics!

Is it going to be an SBR?  Brick's moderator does not bring it to a legal length if you are using a Colt 11.5" barrel.

Barrel is a 16 inch Colt CMP Chrome Bore off an SP1 Carbine.

John Thomas is cutting down the barrel and pinning the Brick moderator to legal length.

Where does one find the XM177 castle nut, that uses a spanner wrench?

Try calling Essential Arms. They may sell it separate from their repro stock.

That sounds like a great build. Non-NFA E2's are among my favorite carbines, they look pretty authentic, and are handy.

The original Colt rings are a little hard to find, but one of our members has some repros available on the EE.
