Morning Gents, does anyone have any photos of the XM16A used by. Vietnam by the Navy SEALs, other than the ones that are readily online.
Thanks in advanced

I've never heard of the XM16A. Are you referring to the XM16E1? If not, please do enlighten me.

My understanding was that it was a M16 20" without the trap door and holes in the bottom of the stock for water drainage. The Navy also has it listed as MK4 MOD 0
I saw the rifle listed that way, XM16A somewhere online. That's why I'm looking for photos, to see if it's the same rifle as the MK4 MOD0.

Very interesting, I had never heard of that rifle. I was under the impression that SEALS were just carrying 601s, 602s and 603s like everybody else. Thanks for the link!

Anytime sir. While I am slowly and I mean very slowly collecting parts I will building a replica of the MK MOD 0, with one exception mine will not have a 20" barrel it will have a 16.5" barrel for a direct thread suppressor

I think you are right, with my 3 days straight of digging through every online and print writing about the MK4 I see no mention of the XM16A. Thanks for the help guys.

There's not much info out there about the Mk4 either.

Seems like there is a little information about them in a book by Kevin Dockery Weapons of the Navy SEALs.

I seem to remember a special coating on the aluminum in addition to the water drainage holes...then there are the suppressors.

Good luck. Post pics.
