Doesn't seem right for a USGI part. Lift dot fasteners? We had gotten away from that on pretty much everything by the end of Vietnam. Seems doubtful anything new would have been made with them. Any more info in it?

Having collected metric butt tons of web gear over the ages (albeit it WWII and KW era primarily) that things screams either "Experimental" or "Complete fantasy FUBAR".

It really LOOKS like it could be something thrown together as proof of concept and it certainly LOOKS USGI-ish.

I agree with Kaiserman that POST VN war is HIGHLY unlikely because of the lift the dots AND because this is canvas AND because the M67 Ammo Pouches for the 30's are a FAR better option than this thin fragile looking rig.

I'd like to see it with a 30 round M16 mag and a 30 round M1 Carbine mag for better scale.

The material and overall look remind me of KW era M1 Carbine mag pouches for 4-30 rounders.

You know the ones. Cheap flimsy repros all over creation and real ones (or even quality repros) near impossible to find. (I fuggin HATE these as far as actual usefulness. They are HORRIBLE bits of kit!)

That being said I'd LOVE to have a rig like this for the M1 Carbine! Two mags in each pouch! 480 of firepower!

This is an odd duck.

Second line of the index card says NYLON.

http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/159701-does-anyone-know-what-this-belt-is-and-where-it-came-from/

There was another post about the belt on us militaria forum at one time, this ^^ is the only link I can find now. Alleged to be experimental and not very sturdy.

I don't think it was made by a "surplus" dealer or we would have seen more examples.

Agreed, M67 and ALICE are superior to this cartridge belt.

Apparently you can fit 30 round carbine mags in a five cell Thompson pouch. "More better," ...as my drill sergeant would have said.

At The Front has some nice repros.

https://www.atthefrontshop.com/product_p/usgathhq.htm The spot on repro.

https://www.atthefrontshop.com/product_p/usgathom.htm

https://www.atthefrontshop.com/product_p/usgamcth.htm  Two less expensive versions.

When I finally break down and order mine I am going to dye it green to match M1956 webbing.

You used to couldn't give the things away!

I prefer originals always but it looks like the flaps may be a tad longish and need to be modified so the cheap repros would be perfect for what it is. I better way to carry 30 round Carbine mags.

At The Front is THE place for WWII repros. The dude's stuff is dead nut on!

I bought two of his (high end) M36 Musette bags to use as saddle bags and you can't tell them from the real thing. They are that good. Only thing missing was the musty smell!

All of his stuff is top notch and if is isn't he'll say it aint.

And his rants are EPIC!

No doubt!

I like original stuff for the collection, but if I am going to use it I like quality repros. His stuff is a damn sight better than the Chinese junk on E-Pay.

Love those Triumphs in spite of Lucas electrics.

I was in the Army from March '73 till March '76 in Mannheim Germany. I can't ever remember seeing anything like that cartridge belt the OP posted but all of our web gear was canvas, "lift the dot"snaps were common. My pistol belt had a 1943 date on it. Heck, our TA50 gear still included wool shirts.
I had a blue 1972 Triumph TR6R 650 Tiger (single carb version of Bonneville) while I was stationed there. Road all over Western Europe on that bike.

I don't know anything about them...I just found the pics on US militaria forums in a thread on US web gear, not hte thread linked above.  I thought it was interesting.

That listing is saved in my favorites already! Basically the same price as repros shipped!

Yeah Echo I know ALL of those jokes! Some of them are unfairly thrown but most are right on the money! Lowest bidder issues. You get what you pay for.

Gunny the Korean made ones available on Brownells are very good! Actually made of thicker steel than originals.

Good fit and finish too. I like them very much!

Try a few out for sheets and gigs!

I finally tried them and now wholeheartedly recommend them.
