My parts lot I posted about last week arrived last night.

First up, two mint 601 charging handles

Next, 4 sets of aluminum 601 cleaning rods. 3 of the 4 sets have the bore brush.

Mystery gauge. John Thomas says barrel straightness, that is what I thought too. I'm not sure if 5.56 or not, I need to get some calipers on it. It is unmarked.

And the parts. Got one dimpled rear sight screw. What pattern are the mag buttons? A few nice chrome bits in there too. I'm told those disconnectors are the early 601 style. The bolt catch is marked with an H on the side and is numbered on the front just above the nub.

What is this circled bit. I'm not recognizing it.

The small end does fit the detent hole in the sight wheels. Isn't the fat end a little short though? I don't have any spares handy for comparison. Google images turned up detents that were a bit longer.

Nice score.....when were orange/red extractor spring inserts used?  I've seen a few of those on a few M16A2 conversions in the past......

You should be making a police report.   That's quite a steal.  I'm glad some unscrupulous scum bag didn't  scam the stuff from you as was mentioned in your other thread.

Lucky dog, the grip screws look like our aircraft type and they might be from Armalite,  they used aircraft cap screws....

It pays off, this win is evidence of that. Obscure searches and time looking. It's not the first time I've found good stuff on the cheap, but this was the best score for sure.

I'm still blown away by the condition of the charging handles. They are so mint. I almost don't want to install one in a rifle. It seems a shame to put any wear on them. But what good is a part sitting on a shelf, right? I'll get over it I guess.

Grip screws are Colt 601. They had the cross drilled holes. You are probably right about them having been sourced from aircraft supplier because there is no way you could tie-wire those up inside the grip.

Smokin deal OP. Love it when there is a great ending to a story.

What were the search words you used to find that? Imagine what traffic and bids that would have got if seller had used good popular words in their title, lol.

Hello.  I don't know how many threads / posts mention the "H" and numbered bolt catches, but I know in email conversations with other members it has been mentioned that the numbered ones with the "H" are replacement parts.  One trait I have seen is the ones believed to be GM / H&R parts have the older style "ramp" and do not have the "H" cast in the side.  See this post for some comparison pictures.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_123/584919_GM-or-HandR-upper-assembly--an-old-and-somewhat-confusing-subject-.html&page=2#i7047120

Nice score on those parts!
