So I have been slowly working on a 602 for years now. I recently felt the urge to see if I can find those last few hard to get parts. I was looking through the sticky series guide and realized that the handguards I bought a long time ago as the right ones for a 602 (no drain hole) are in fact type "D' per that guide. No drain hole though.

Can the forum Jedi knights chime in if these are acceptable for a 602? I would of course prefer A through C so will keep that eye out lurking about the internet for those.

My understanding is that the type "C" handguards were used on all 602's, as well as some early 604's, and possibly even some early XM16E1's.  I used a set on my 602 and on my early 604, but I couldn't find definitive proof of their use on XM16E1's, so I opted for type "D"'s.  That, AND the fact that I only had two sets of type "C"'s, and did not want to hunt down a third set if it wasn't necessary.  I got one of my sets on a 601 barrel, and the other set at a gun show on a guys table selling western memorabilia.  The handguards were the ONLY non western item on his table.

Yeah, but if every part was easy to find, this retro sickness would not be nearly AS FUN!
