Is the best practice to obtain an 80% Nodak lower to send to Braceman?  Then, finish it and send to US Anodizing?

Just got these two 80's back from John on Monday. Everything went extremely smoothly and John is a great businessman. He even put up with me asking him to change which roll mark he'd put on the Colt a week or so after he received them

Brownells A1 lower included for comparison. Now to finish them on the 5D tactical jig I ordered when it gets here and send them off to HKiller for anodizing.

It looks incredible!  I'd kinda scrapped the idea of engraving 80s but now I've gotta do an H&R.

Braceman definitely did some great work, I actually got done machining out both the Colt and H&R lowers with the 5D Tactical jig last week. I'll put some pics up of the results shortly when I get the chance. Both lowers will be headed off to HKILLER for anodizing as soon as my upper arrives from Brownell's and I sand off the NDS forge code. I'm a bit too impatient to wait on the next batch of uppers straight from NDS and at least this way I'm guarenteed that my upper and lower anodizing will match.

A braceman engraved nodak 80% is the way to go. It was actually cheaper for me to get a nodak 80% engraved than it was to get a finished nodak because of the insane ffl transfer fees in CA!

I don't suppose that Braceman can engrave Colt Canada/Diemaco lower receiver markings? Looks like he knows his Colt/H&R.
I plan on cloning some special maple syrup rifles in the future and I'm looking for someone.

As promised, more pictures of the H&R now that it's machined out as well as some additional pictures for anyone who wants to know more about Braceman's reprofiling work on A2 80% receivers.

and for shiggles, some of the Colt lower.

You'll appreciate this; sanded off that pesky forge code

Progress continues. The upper and lower will be off to HKILLER soon for anodizing.

You probably know this, but you should anodize before routing.  Otherwise, you, your vendor, all have potential issues with ATF.  A gunsmith is required to keep track of the serial number of a real firearm, but if it is 80%, nobody cares.  You can always use a shake and bake for the interior.

Braceman did this for me, but since i live in Occupied Commiefornia, did not do an auto labeling, or a fake pin.

80 percent lowers that are finished out aren't real guns? Huh........I didn't know that!  Guess I'll have to remove mine from the NFA Registry.

If it's finished, it's no longer an 80%, it's a 100%.

Your approved Form 1 is your permission slip to make an NFA item.

The 80% lower isn't the item mentioned on the form 1 until you actually MAKE a gun from it.

Sven, John's email PM'd to you.

Not sure if he's just been super busy or what, but I've been trying to get in touch with him the past couple of weeks about a lower I sent in a while back, but no reply.  Hopefully he's alright and just busy.  He definitely does great work.

That was sarcasm. Why would I NOT want to finish it prior to anodizing? Machine it complete....send to ffl holding anodizer.....be done with it, it's completely legal.  Serial number, yes, put one on it and your ffl anodizer can enter it into his book.
