Agreed. The photo samples look amazing. I really want to get the Limited Edition for that poster of #1 but... ouch.
Christmas present indeed. |

View Quote If it is the same as his 1911 book he will sell the print posters separately for $75.00, still pretty price but if you have to have it. So buying the standard and the poster print will be cheaper than buying the limited edition. I bought the standard, i couldn't care less about Larry's signature or a hand written note. |

He said in a live video tonight that he included a section
On cloning retros ... So who in here helped? |

Yeah I gotta get one. I've never seen those pics before, That blown out moderator photo is really cool.

Curious has anyone gotten theirs yet? I know the standard edition is suppose to ship this week.

Ouch!
That's gonna hurt my wife's purse... I wish they had the slip cover separately. Don't care about posters or signatures but I do like to keep my hardcover books in pristine condition whenever possible. |

Girlfriend got me the more expensive one for the holidays.
If I recall, a local dealer to me (and a client), said they came to photograph his Colt MARS. Guy has some AWESOME transferable machine guns. |

Guess they pushed it back... When I ordered it, the website said the 21st of November and the confirmation email said late November.

It would be nice to know how much of the book covers the Nam era retro rifles. I hope someone will post a range report on the book when they get it.

I got mine today, you guys will like it and recognize some of the names in the book.
I was a bit bummed the MARS didn't make the cut for this volume. |

It does have some really nice pictures of the No. 1, 2, 3, & 4 Prototypes.

Got mine yesterday! Spent about an hour with it while distracted by 2 kids.
First impression is: Great color pics, low on details, odd progression and layout IMO. The pics made it worth it to me though, and answered some questions only pics can. I need to spend more time with it to solidify my thoughts. It was nice to see our fellow members in print too. Congrats Augee, JT, and Bowles! |

Just got mine. Initial impressions echo the above. Lots of pretty pics not a lot of details. Thought it was interesting to see AR15 serial no 1, which the book "The Black Rifle" claimed was destroyed in testing. Glad to see it survived!

My limited edition should show up tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday.

You are a fantastic resource to this forum and happy to see your knowledge spread elsewhere. The book is beautiful and I can't wait to soak it all up. This is coming from a guy who rarely ventures into the retro section. |

I ordered my copy of Vickers Guide: AR-15, Volume 1 (Standard Edition) this afternoon.

I got mine this week as well. The text is well done but sparse, the pictures are the main event. I bought the book because of the pictures and I am not disappointed. A great companion to The Black Rifle I, The Armalite AR-10, and other retro books. If you are on the fence, you should grab a copy.

It's express overnight and it comes in a rather substantial box. Had it just been some cheapo box and had it taken a week to arrive I wouldn't be as forgiving. View Quote I'd be fine with normal 1-2 week shipping to be honest, but that's not an option. Spendy book to begin with,so I was on the edge and decided what the heck, it looks like a really nice book. I put it my cart and went through the check out process, but the nearly 20% shipping cost made me reconsider. |

[#40]
I also thought the book is great, especially the quality of the photos.
And I was also somewhat less than thrilled at the FexEx delivery. No attempt was made to come down the driveway and leave the package at the house. My box was left on the ground, in the rain, leaning against my mailbox stand, for most of the day until I got home from work. Thankfully, nobody stole it and the wispy plastic bag kept most of the water away from the box. After I stopped grumbling about the fine delivery service, I really enjoyed the book! |

[#41]
The book is going to be a great resource, my main gripe is not with the content, but the fact the book was printed and bound in China. I honestly would not have spent that kind of money if I would have known that. Yes I would have paid more to keep the work here, no I am not a printer or in the trade, just tired of our work being shipped over seas.

Finally cracked mine open after the kids went to bed last night. Photography is beautiful, and overall quality is excellent. A great addition to my library.
I haven't put together any retro builds thus far, but the temptation is definitely heating up! |
