Well it seems my original thread on my build has made it's way into the archive and I can't find it. I ended up scoring some no drain handguards, 601 buffer tube w/flats which has original awesome finish and a decent Edgewater. The bolt is complete but seems to be a bone of contention with the wide band MP parked bolt. She'll end up wearing a C stock for that transitional 1964 look. For those that remember the barrel is a M VP 12 with cast FSB as well. Everyone loves pictures so here are some.
PS
The beer is a Three Floyds Alpha King APA. It was a long day at the big house.......

That's a real nice upper!

I need an earlier one and some no drain holes for my early 604 in progress.

Very nice stuff. It might be more correct with a 601 port door. Maby others will chime in on that. Beautiful upper.

A gentleman sold me a MP 12 marked barrel with a no drain handguard attached and a kind soul here helped me out with the other half which was a perfect match finish wise.

It could also be correct with a 601 door. The new port door did start appearing on the M16 and XM16E1 in 1964. If I threw a 601 door on her I guess I'd have to ditch the wide band parked bolt for a chrome wide band then.

You know your real good at talking me into spending more money.  Thought about a real 601 door and real transitional bolt release but the money is sick on those. Going to get a repro transitional release from JT but soon I'm going to have to start looking for a early bend tube. Was Colt still using carbon steel gas tubes in 64?

I wish you luck for sure. You gonna go with a early square, square or round forge upper?

I have one of all 3 laying around Im not doing anything with But Ill use the early square since Ill have a cast fsb MVP barrel. Unfortunately it has the hard black arsenal refinish, Ill have to refinish it, your upper is very nice
