This definately will have to be my last build. I,ve got to break this obsession! Finally,,,,605! Its taken forever, but, i think the wait was worth it. First and MOST importantly, KUDOS to all of the fine talent this forum has to offer. Like New, CHROME SLICKSIDE, FULL ROUND KEY, CARRIER from Lionel Linn. Got lucky a second time, and received from David Baugh a Like New CHROME MP marked bolt. John Brace did all of the RE-PROFILING, BEAUTIFUL ENGRAVING, and MACHINING of the forward assist area. And, last but not least, John Thomas did his outstanding BARREL SHORTENING and SAFETY SELECTOR DIMPLING. Coloring i applied is From John Norrell. Superb quality UPPER and WAFFLE mag is from our favorite vendor NODAK SPUD. And lower is an 80%er that i milled at Bob Browns house on his new milling machine (Thanks Bob!) Cant do a range report this weekend. I,ll be shooting TALLEDAGA,,,,,AMERICAN MARKSMAN CHAMPIONSHIP (2nd round of quals) (Yep, i gotta brag and say that i scored 12th in the whole S.E. Division) 55Grand awaits the final contestant, hope i at least place for bragging rights. Guys,,,,,wish this old SEABEE luck; its kinda tough with 55yo eyes

I love the 605!

Your opening statement is a testament to the fact you will do another build. Resistance is futile. Especially if you are in direct contact with the aforementioned rif-raf.

Wow!  That is real nice. Top flight on everything.  Good luck on the shoot.

DAMN!! That's nice!!

I have a brand new 20" barrel that is just sitting in my closet, waiting for a trip to JT, and a slick side upper from Fulton that's looking awfully lonely. Looking at your pictures reminds me that I need to get to work!

Absolutely love the look of a 605. The long rifle handguards with the stubby three prong flash hider sticking out of the FSB just looks so cool.

Good luck at Talledaga!

That's an understatement LOL. Matt, your name can't be left off of the list of enablers either.

Great job OP!  Hope mine turns out half as good.

Have BRACEMAN build you one! EazyPeazy! Thanks for all of the comps guys. I think i might be able to rest easy for a while, now that this one is done. Only major model left for me is a 607. "Resist the urge" Resist the urge"  keep telling myself "Resist the urge"

I LOVE the 605 look !!!  That should have been standard issue back then.

I think it would really look cool with a Portuguese AR10 type Handguard on it too.

Right, but were the lines already like that on the 80% or did he sharpen them?

I,m truely sorry sputnik. Maybe i,m not understanding the term "Lines"? It was a very inexpensive cast lower. I dont remember what it looked like before BRACEMAN did his magic! If anybody else can help me with a response,,,,,,, Please help me out.

Dang it, Gordog!

I was just going to throw my 605 upper on a spare A2 lower and be done with it!
However, after looking at the photos of your beautiful 605 build, the Gods of RBRD are now demanding that I sacrifice another 80% lower to Braceman!

Just purchased another 80% from Tactical Machining and will be contacting John for a partial fence conversion and some engraving.

Notice how the flare at the bottom of the magwell is gradual  on this lower?

ETA: I see know that it's cast, that explains it. Thanks.

Oh wow! now i see what you,re talking about. I just pulled it out of the safe to look at it. OMG!!!! all of the corners are nice and sharp/crisp! It is lacking the slight radius like all of my other lowers. Oh well, I kinda like it anyway (even though now i dont know if i should be dissapointed?)

I don't know what it is about the incomplete forward assist uppers, but they seem to visually flow really nicely.

Great looking carbine gordog!
