Hive, can you take a look at this and let me know what you think?

Im not too familiar with the old stuff. This came with a colt upper, but the BCG looks to be a hodge podge. The Carrier does not have the C stamp. It does have a MP marked bolt.

Any info would be appreciated.

Looks like an XM16E1 b/c.

Nice find.

Yup, Colt.

The large firing pin retaining holes on the carrier give it away.

Never seen staking like that before.

Maybe a re-stake by unit armorer.  I have seen GI BCGs staked like that.  The side stakes are original, I think.

Early carriers were staked in the middle, either round or square punches. The side stakes are a restaking (is that even a word? lol) job done later.

What do the earliest chrome bolts look like?  What are their defining characteristics?

The earliest bolts were only marked with a P, were chrome, and did not have a hole over the ejector spring for lubrication.

Next came bolts like the OP has ^

that was the earliest thin band, then there were the later thin band with the M P marks of varying sizes, then the wide band.  early ones without the oil hole sometimes had extractors that were squared off on the back end.
