Both holes appear to be the same size. One is marked L, the other is not marked. I'm not seeing a visible difference between them, and when shooting I see no significant difference between them. From reading the manual I'd assumed at least a 3.7moa increase for the L sight.
Did a simple test before dark and these are my results. I'll keep testing, next time at 300 yards to see if I can tell a difference, but as you can see the average for the 2 groups is only .8 moa difference

Here is a picture of my notes from Marine Corps boot camp (1978) that gives a little info about the sights and MOA effect.

If you zero with the shorter "close range" aperture, then flip to the "L" marked long range one your point of impact will generally shift high and right.

That is why the manual has you zero with the "L" so that your best Windage is with your max effective range.

The L seemed to move about 1moa right and 1moa up, but I was expecting a lot 3-4moa in elevation change.

I was going to use the L for .22lr conversion use, and the standard aperture for .223, but the results don't seem to be enough difference for this to work.

If it was at least 3-4moa it would work. I'll test it at 200 or 300 yards with larger groups to see if I can get a more accurate reading.

Yes, works better than any gen1 I've ever used. Performs about the same as the Zeiss Orion gen 1 cascade tube. Though the Zeiss is a lot easier to work with lol. Both are Pretty close to gen2 actually.
