There is a A1 upper on GB, the seller advertised as Colt 64-71 as no forge codes in web.  Pic's # 7 looks to have forge flash on rear of receiver.  My thoughts are either GM or H&R. Could the experts weigh in on this with opinions.  Also note there is no counterbored front lug.  Barrel is MP C.  Thanks for your insights.  Receiver also appears refinished.  Thanks folks.

Black GM M16A1 upper with MP C barrel, you can see the flash and the number on the forward assist. Also it's most likely a 1968-1969 issue..

For what it's worth....seller is GTG....Not Me

I bought a GM, Black upper from him.  All original finish, very satisfied.  Partial kit, but well worth it: if you want a GM upper, he has been the last resort as of late.

Looks good, still a debate on the "Black Finish".....but can say Yes, there were black GM's that are not the cast iron arsenal re-fins.  YMMV.

Thank you for the information, did not want to bid too much higher if it was not confirmed to be correct.

I'm guessing that is a GM upper, it looks "the same" or similar to one I came up with a couple years ago.  I posted some pictures of it here:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_123/584919_GM_or_HandR_upper_assembly__an_old_and_somewhat_confusing_subject_.html&page=1#i5739555

Mine is not pure black, it is super dark gray and is slightly lighter than other black anodized parts.  In incandescent light it has a slight purple tint to it, in other light it has no color cast.  I think the forging both receivers are made from is the later forging and with no rebate in the front lug I'm guessing it is a later manufacture part.  Check the tacked upper guide to get the time line when the rebate was discontinued for Colt parts.
