Speaking of  H&R "Dream guns"......

M16A1
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=491284596

T223
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=490873710

T-48
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=491283082

I've never (ever) seen such a lineup for sale on GB  at one time..........that T223 is 10 times rarer than a transferrable Stoner 63........

What's the story on the FAL having a DOD acceptance stamp?

Big Army fiddled around for well over ten years finding the M1 Garand's replacement, going thru a long series of T-models finally ending up with the T-44 that was eventually adopted as the M-14.  The T-48 model of the FAL (versions were manufactured by FN as well as domestically by Harrington & Richardson) was also in the running against the T-44, and very nearly won the competition.  Opinions vary as to what made the T-44 win over the T-48, but certainly the "not invented here" syndrome may well have had something to do with it.

A very short version can be found on Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/T48_rifle

That's a grail gun, no doubt!
I know the USMC took acceptance of a number of H&R T48s and they have 70 left--many unfired--at Quantico (there was a photo thread at FALfiles a few years ago).  I don't know how many they started with, though, or how they were disposed of, but it's certainly possible that's the source of the stamp.

Damn, that's nice.

Mine has the stamp and the serial is 10 digits away from the one in the auction. It was amnesty registered though.

You could still be an owner.  how about this idea   file a form 1 to make an M-16 to NFA branch of ATF   it will be denied then sue for 2nd amendment violation.  Say you unable to compete in sporting events because you cannot afford a transferable M-16.  The second amendment has been violated as well. We all know 922(0) is illegal so go get your rights back.  Someone needs to do this soon!

TGus, it's always amazing (and humbling) to see the beautiful items you've collected.  That is damn sweet.

Thanks.

Has anyone here contacted the seller about this rifle?  I'd like to ask a couple questions about details / features but don't want to flood him with questions if anyone else here has.

I'd stake money it's an Ex-H&R museum auction gun.......perhaps the T-223 is as well.
