Good to know, I'd never tried it on anodizing hence my reluctance. Thank you for confirming it.

getting it anodized would be the most correct and durable but it's not cheap. one of the spray on coatings would work. if you're not worried about wear, some use automotive primer in a spray can. you may want to try using some fine steel wool and scuffing up the black one, that'll give it a grey appearance. if it doesn't at least you've prepped it for a spray on finish
