What is a carabiner (what exactly)? It is a compilation? What does the symbol "tree" in the red oval in the picture?

I am impressed, first time I've ever seen a Factory Colt 653 with that kind of a rollmark. OP; how did you end up with this carbine?

The Colt Model 653 is one of my all time favorites! Mine works like a Swiss watch and always on duty.

Thanks for posting, OP.

Super cool.

The first time I ever saw one of those was in a National Geographic article about the problems in Beirut in the late 70's.

The 652, 653, and 723 are my favorite carbine models.

 I'm sorry, Not now :(

The rifle is in the Poland (probably a few years or longer). If all goes well in the near future I'll send you pictures in good quality and I will say something more about its history.

The correct name is Colt Model 653 M16A1 Carbine, right?

Do you think Lebanese flag and "FSI" was made by Colt or in Lebanon?

PS: Thanks you for help!

My lebanese M16A1 lower was marked different.....looked like crossed swords and an eagle crest....

It was made BY Colt FOR the Lebanese..had an "AL" serial # prefix...
I built an M4 out of it and carried it as we were short on M4s for a while.
