I found this a few days ago and was going to by it but not now lol. It's missing a rod and is the steal version measuring 11 1/2" long and 2- 9 1/2" long. Unknown thread measurements. Guy doesn't know how to measure them |

[#15]
It's not missing a piece. The army issue M11 would only be 3 pieces. It is missing the cleaning brush through from the looks of it.
Out of my price range either way. |

[#16]
The Ebay M11 cleaning rod is 8/32 thread, as noted no bore brush included but a commercial 223/5.56 8/32 bore brush will substitute till you find an original USGI. Later cleaning rods were 8/36 thread starting with the M11E1. XM3 bipod case is correct size for the M11 cleaning rod. Info based on drawing by Bert Mullins of early cleaning rods posted some years back on AR15.

Guy doesn't know how to measure them Just an FYI, this rod set IS the set that willp is missing from his collection BUT verbally describes on his site and asks if anyone has one for sale. It is an original, hard to find 3 piece set as described by the seller. The pouch shown (we've seen plenty for sale) is actually specifically designed for that 3 piece set. Each section is longer and fits the pouch pocket correctly. Try and insert a disassembled 4 piece rod into that pouch,it's tight, and it MAY fall to the bottom and gets tough to remove. The bipod in the auction is a "single E clip" version. Final sell price, in my opinion, was very reasonable and that's why I bought it!. And I don't really even collect "accessories" per say, but after trading for an original 601 light-weight cleaning rod and double E clip bipod,,I decided I SHOULD have this set for the 602. Now just need to find a similar pouch like shown in that auction BUT does NOT have the cleaning rod pocket. |

M1Sniper glad to hear you won the M11 cleaning rod/XM3 bipod pouch/62122 bipod. After going back thru many old AR15 postings and checking multiple other web sites I feel I have a very good idea of the lineage of the those three items, cleaning rods/bipods/bipod pouches, starting from the original ArmaLite AR15 rifles. Bert Miller did some exact drawings and specs of the M11, M11E1 and M11E2 cleaning rods. WillieP with photos and descriptions covered these items in excellent detail. I also posted on EE/WTB that I was looking for an original USGI 8/32 thread bronze cleaning brush for my M11 cleaning rod, # 11686340 from the 1964 manual. M1Sniper along with a M14 plastic grease/oil bottle and the 8/32 cleaning brush you will also have all the issued items.

If only the gas key was installed and staked. You can build an AR but you can't install and stake a carrier key? Never done it before. I ordered one of the blem chrome ones from Palmetto for $29 without CAM pin and gas key - Red X Arms has the key with bolts for $12 shipped but it isn't chromed. CDNN was probably a better buy if I didn't have spare CAM pins. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/upper-parts/bolt-carrier-groups/blem-chrome-bolt-carrier-stripped-and-w-o-key.html FYI, a hammer and screw driver or punch is all you need to stake a gas key. You are just indenting the gas key to lock the bolt in with two touching areas of metal from the gas key so the bolt doesn't back out or unscrew. Takes about a minute to do - torqueing and thread locking the bolts is what Young Manufacturing does if you aren't comfortable, but the mil-spec guys are going to cringe at that because if it comes loose, you have a single shot! |
