...where you were determined to "fix" all those little things that bug you on completed builds? It is a balmy mid 70's night out here and I put some 80's rock on the shop stereo...changed out a couple of receivers so forge codes were correct, matched others up for wear pattern and ended up with the same number of completed guns I started with...

Dang you FS - I have the same problem and have been ignoring it for awhile now.  Can't just leave good enough alone can you!

(stalks off to look at his 10 retro builds and start a list of "revisions" to be made ....)

I totally get it. I have done it a couple of times now. Lost my 606 to three other completed rifles one of those times. It ended up a Frankenstein AR retro for now.

I tore down my 603 to turn it into two other builds, now neither are finished.

Yes, many a night.  It never really ends.  It's a good feeling to get a bunch of the little stuff done, especially when all goes well.

Haha!  FAST, I have had the same kind of nights!  Last time was when my wife was gone for a week to So-Cal to out son/granddaughter's.    That was what gave birth to the idea of changing my 602 into an SP1 carbine clone, and selling the 20" stuff to pay the dentist.

I took my 604 upper, the new 1/7" 6420 pencil barrel (16"), the kids N marked Fiberlite and Colt charging handle , and used my 601 BCG and 601 NDS lower.  I sold my 20 A1 barrel, the kids 16" 1/9 pencil and M16A1 upper, and my 2nd BCG, and 601 NDS mag and 601 charging handle  and Duckbill to pay the dentist!

I still have the complete Anderson lower that I took the M4gery stuff off of and traded with my son for the CAR15 stuff.  Now I want to finish the Anderson as a 20" A2 or A4!

The retro forum will probably confuse and irritate you then...........a 603 Charging handle would ruin an otherwise perfect 601......

I'm new at this.  Does Retro also mean OCD?

You don't have to be OCD the be here, but it helps...

Also crazy, it helps to be crazy!

More of a "all in one" shop these days. Did custom cabinetry/trim work till a few years after my daughter was born and sold off most of the larger free standing tools when I moved out of my rented space. Kept one of the 240 VAC cabinet saws, 16 inch re-saw, floor standing drill press. Everything else is now hobbyist quality/size.  I don't even have a full sized truck any longer...just my 1966 El Camino

This shop is small - only 20 x 10 and located in my back yard. Fully insulated, wired for 120 VAC, wall mounted AC (but no heater)  If my wife or an old customer wants something and I have the time, my cars get put outside and I use my garage...

I had parts scattered after Black Friday.  Things are more normal now, except for the truck build.........

I'm about two weeks from doing the very same thing, have a gaggle of parts inbound and then
musical upper pieces begins, though in theory, I promised myself to sell the extra parts....... uh yeah, right....

I approve of this message! Except for the 80s rock part
I do this to an extent with clone incorrect parts, but not on as wide of a scale as you did.

El-Cos can be way cool. Anyway, looks like a nice shop. And good luck with all the swaperoos. I plan to do some of that here in a while.
