So I put this rifle togather a couple years ago and did not really think about the parts that are on it. And now am kinda curious.

The upper came assembled with the BCG so I am not sure if someone put this together or what would be the original configuration.

-CMPC  barrel
-Bell marked FSB with flashing removed
-Non C marked Bolt Carrier top staked,  with  MP bolt.

you've got a M-16 hammer you oughta be rid of for starters.
check the rest of the Fire Control Group for verbotten pieces to be safe.
the Bolt Carrier Group is good, regardless.

look at Ekie's tacked thread above to get a idea on the barrel's vintage.

who's lower is that?

You can neuter the hammer in a few minutes - I'm sure someone will be along soon with the pic. It's really easy. Chrome lined chamber but not bore, with later M16 upper. Very nice BTW !

Probably clicked through the pics to look at the photobucket album. If it has an M16 hammer do as Morg says and neuter it to be safe. Nice looking rifle. 70's contract upper, with a 1968-69 barrel. More pics to check out the rest.

It is an NDS lower.

Opps, looks like in my young age I let that one slip, good now.

So would that suggest that one needs to weld up the back of an FA trigger if all the other parts are modified.

Also the upper came with a three prong, is there anything to look for on those if tell if they are original?

Date wise it is a bit of a mix, but it is a M16A1 model 603 clone with an NSD A1 full fence lower. The lower would be correct for a 603 build.

Does the CH forge code on the upper, and some other forging characteristics now that I look more, look funny to anyone else?? Like the H in CH is too far toward the rear?? Weird profile in a couple spots?

Look at the recess under the rear sight in the last pic. Looks funny to me.

No Colt proofs?.....
