Just before the AWB expired in 2004 BamaJrSr and I found this Colt SP1 in a pawn shop for about $600. It had a busted stock and the pawn shop replaced it with an A2 stock. I found an original SP1 stock and replaced it. Gave this kit to BamaJrSr for his 19th birthday.



When the AWB expired there was very brief period of SP1 lowers and parts that came onto the market because folks could buy new stuff. Since I had procured the SP1 for my oldest son I wanted to secure one for my youngest. A person put an SP1 lower on the EE with a multiple position carbine butt stock and coated in Norrells black. I jumped on it iirc I paid right around $200 for it. The same person put the SP1 upper (in black), charging handle and bolt in seperate auctions on Ebay. I got all three of them. I then searched out and found an original Colt SP1 Carbine butt stock assembly. iirc I had around $600 in the whole package.

I then used Brownells moly teflon in the gray color to refinish the gun to try and bring it back to an original look. Well 10 years later of BamaJr shooting it, a few carbine classes and some matches the finish started flaking off.
