No some early varients (Realist) and the early Japanese (Hakko) have different threads, but I have acess to both varieties to be reproduced.

Please remove my name as I did not commit to this. Yes, I'm interested, but as I've seen nothing as to price, and have other irons in the fire, please don't count me in at this point.

I think at this point, my name should be removed from the list, as I am going on a different tangent for now. Thanks.

I would be interested in two elevation caps for the early Made in USA 3x scopes if they would be available.

Just keep an eye on this thread for updates, I sent Braceman 2 types of Elevation Caps. Mail has been slow because of the holidays and he hasn't gotten a chance to start on them yet because they are still in transit.

Will do, the elevation caps are chewed up on both of mine.   Thanks to you and Braceman!

I received my final screws today and they are exact copied of the flat bottom screws. There are also tip bottom screws, but I did not send him one to blue print. I had thought it did not matter, but my scope requires one (which I already have) on the front right side. If someone requires the tip bottom screw, he is willing and able to make them. He just need an original the first time he makes it to create the blueprint. They cost $15 each or 4 for $48. You can order them directly from Scott Stonehill at [email protected] or through his website at http://www.customscrewsandmore.com/default.html

I may add this data to the vender sticky at the top of the forum for future reference.

why does one side need the tip bottomed screw?  does it hold tension on something?

I could not tell. All of the holes have a tip indent in the bottom. I can move any of the flat screws to any of the other holes and they screw tight. In that hole it sticks out the distance of the tip in the indent. The tip screw seems to go into any of the four holes and tighten. Had I been smart, I would have just sent him a tipped screw and been done with it. Since no one knew the answer when I asked, I sent the flat one...

Sorry for the delay on the scope caps. I had to order a thread milling cutter and with the holidays and other pending stuff i had a little time to play with them .
The good news is that i made one tonight and it worked out very well.
I would like to know how accurate of a reproduction do you guys want?
The sample cap has  knurling around the top, I can do it but it will take another set up and i cant guarantee it will be perfect.
The slot in the the top is on a angle, it would be easier for me to mill it in straight.
Please let me know.

Thanks John

[#19]
I would rather have the straight slot, the angle ones are always torn up.

The knurling would be nice if its not too huge of a PIA.

It doesn't have to be an exact copy, just something to cover the adjustment knobs. I think it's probably for the best they are different, so they don't get confused as originals or passed off as originals when scopes change hands. That being said both the knurling and top cut are to aid in removal, so as long as they aren't impossible to remove...
Link Posted: 12/30/2014 6:28:59 AM EDT
[#21]
To me, the knurling is about useless. The slot on top would be better if straight instead of angled. The size to fit a quarter, or other normal coin would be perfect. This is all IMHO anyway.

I've been building a few retro's and a buddy had this in a sock and thought it was worth about $40........
Anyway, after the initial shock of seeing a thin crosshair original Colt 3x20, I had to do a lot of work. All the knobs were locked up. I have everything working great, but can't seem to find one part. The mounting clamp. Does anyone know where I can find one or does someone make them? I've tried a couple other mounting clamps from other scopes, but none are the same thread pitch and don't have the same kind of bolt that I could swap out. Going nuts trying to find one. Also could replace the windage knob if there is one out there.

Thanks for any info!

I've tried the one off a cheap Chinese carry handle scope and as you know it doesn't fit.  I didn't give it much thought, but looking at it I think the latch from one of those could be bored out and rethreaded to fit.  I even tried switching the screw and it still doesn't work due to the top of the screw not being the right size.

The only latch I've found that fits so far is the one from my CMO scopes.  Makes sense as they were both made by Hakko, but paying $100-$150 for the scope just to scavenge that one part probably isn't ideal.

Pic of CMO scope.

[#42]
I might go that route. If it's not authentic, just use a nut to hold it in place, so scavenging wouldn't be a complete loss on the new one. I have a Barska and another one that are smaller and could be bored out. Thanks for the idea! Still want to try and find a "real" one.

Great!

Looks like the front of your scope is tipped up though. (You may not have wanted to scratch the inside of your carry handle.)

I'm waiting for the side caps!

Brace did a run of the top ones but last update on the side ones was a month or so ago.

I am ever hopeful!

It's the camera. Too close it does a wide angle kind of thing. The uppers are old, beat up, damaged M16 uppers I have been getting and refurbishing. They are cerakoted in Sniper Grey so scratching isn't too big of an issue. The last ones I got in were actually complete with original parts.

Even the small parts came out good.

Does anyone know of any original lens caps laying around collecting more dust? Not sure which ones go with this scope, but beggars can't be choosers.
