Hello everyone,

I thought I would share some pics of the project this weekend. Sorry about the pics being links, I'm still at a loss for getting pictures to post!

This was a blemished lower receiver from The Arms Room out of Orlando Florida. I love their lowers because they are plain, no animals arachnids or big company logos...

I used a flat file to remove the lower portion of the mag fence, and my handy dremel to re-profile the rear. You can also see the JB weld over the RH fire safe marksl

The upper I bought off of Gunbroker. I was pretty excited to find one with the front small hole. It was spray painted black but I stripped all of that off!

It looks pretty crusty but really not that bad off....

This was my first time using Norells Moly Resin. THIS STUFF IS GREAT!!!! I used Gray Flat for that early retro look. You guys weren't kidding, it really has a lot of blue to it....

I love the Norells! I'm hooked!!! Oh, and the JB in the fire/safe marks held up just fine to 350 degrees!

Go to your photobucket page,

on the right side of the screen will be several boxes with a bunch of http: crap,

the lower box is labelled IMG,

left click inside the IMG box,

a message will flash "COPIED",

come to this page right click then paste.

That came out really nice.

I shaved the bayonet lug (Dremel) and used some old blueing to touch it up...

So I went ahead and assebled it after a coat of rem-oil. The buttstock is an entry stock I bought used on Gunbroker for cheap, but Fulton Armory does sell them. The barrel came from AR15sport, 16" pencil, 5.56 with a 1/9 twist. No chrome lining though :(

The fake supressor screws onto the end of the barrel, and sinks back to cover the barrel itself. I found this on E-Bay. The top sling kit and silent sling are USGI surplus.

Oh yeah, and the handguards are repros from AR15sport. Not quite a historically accurate rifle, but I still have a smile on my face:)

How so?

Paste directly into the post, not one of the boxes below with the symbols/pictograms or whatever they're called

Yeah, I tried that on the last pic. In my post box it shows as a picture, but when I hit submit it comes out as a link!

Great job! It looks a lot like my decacated .22. It is my twist on what an A2 version of a 607 would be. I designed a one off 607/M4 adjustable stock for it.

Keep up the good retro inspired work.

Charles, that's a damned impressive build.  You did some really good work there--especially since you were working with hand tools!
I'm glad you posted the photos!

Agree in every way, I have to ask though.....can you please give us more detailed info on that suppressor?

Sure! I looked at my E-Bay history, and the guy I bought it from is not currently selling any. But I searched "Fake Can" and came up with several in different sizes/calibers.

This one looks like mine:

I'm really happy with it, just slips over the barrel and screws on at the end. I ended up using a thinner washer behind the can, using a standard crush washer or lock washer made the can stick out too far, exposed the threads in front of the barrel. I used a copper crush washer from a brake line banjo bolt. I had to hog out the inside of the washer just a little bit (dremel to the rescue again!).

@ 5427,

That rifle looks awesome! How did you make the buttstock? Looks as though it is fully adjustable?

And thanks again everybody for the positive input!!! I have a new project starting soon, I'll post some pics!

It is adjustable. Braceman turned my prototype into a working model. It works great. Here is the link to the archived build thread on it.

Charles,

Nice job dude! You must have the patience of God, I tried one a while back and couldn't keep my frustration in check.

Well, I'm not that patient!
