Carrier looks like a XM16E1 but the gas key is side staked correct? Please post a pic of the top of the carrier and key.

Does the key have the top staking, too? Someone may have restaked it during its lifetime.

looks like the original key that was restaked later. seen it a lot of xm16e1 carriers w/ the additional side stakes

They may have some some grievances with you spending too much time with the Swedish girl.
