the other pics make it look more black w/ swirls than the brown chunks you typically see in the brown HGs.

good eye, i didn't scroll over to the other pics.  no L/R marks make them really late 60s.

After looking at the ebay page and pics I think I am with JT on this one. Those pics are bad, with bad lighting... and even though a couple look brown, the rest look black in orangeish light (which is incandescent bulbs). I certainly wouldn't pay a premium for them.. has anyone asked the seller the color or for better pics?

drainholes in the heatshields should remove all doubt that it's not a 601 set.

Sent question in for a color confirmation:

Handguards are black and the pistol grip is brownish black.
