my wheeler tool kit arrived from cabelas, was tired of payin someone to do stuff for me, and soon after my upper lower from Nodak also came in.  so decided this will be my first ever AR build/classic look.
from nodak received couple weeks back, upper lower combo nds-15

original 1:12 twist barrel

John Thomas "mottled brown" furniture
put some hand loads together for a range trip, looks like she likes the sierra match 52gr HPBT

Nice furniture. Where you score that from?

Man that's sweet. The stocks set it off nicely

And that gentlemen is how it is done. Very nice rifle and looks like you did a great job putting it all together.

That is a great looking build.  I only found one problem with it: it needs an xm16e1, and a carbine or two to keep it company.

That is a thing of beauty.

I mean, not that you need the approval of a random stranger on the innernet, but that rifle is damned hot.

Well, damn, son!  You done real good there!  Real good!
Forget the "1st build" disclaimer--that would be a proud addition to anyone's collection.

Must say--with all due respect to everyone here (including myself) who started their retro journey with a run-of-the-mill 603/604 kit build--that's the way to jump into this game!

gentlemen much appreciated thanks, on this forum is where i get all my inspiration from.  while all my friends battle for who has the latest and greatest tactical stuff, i always surprise them with my oldschool builds.  the stock set i ordered from Numrich and sent to John Thomas from retro rifle works, then he works his magic on them.  had couple builds a little while back before this one.  some pics of my other retros
my 601 build also with John Thomas 601 green worked furniture

better pic of john thomas  601 green

i really miss this one, had to let it go for another rifle.  but will build one in near future

then this is no specific model just wanted a shorty version, the lower is actually for my xm16e1 build once i get parts in order

Will get pics, still learning all the retro stuff.as I go along.  did not know colt barrels were marked this way....will confirm.  I recently also found out I have 2 original 20 rounders with aluminum followers and floor plate one marked Colt .223 and the other marked Universal Ind. M16/M16A1 CAL 5.56

Thanks for the erection, but I gotta say...

I ain't sure what my wife would think if she knew I was fantasizing about old-school rifles while we're gettin' busy.
