I guess it's about that time to pose the semi-annual question............Who all is going to be in for the Knob Creek Shoot......April 11, 12, 13?

I'll be there Fri only, as I have to work Sat and Sun.   Big blue Suburban with diesel sized tailpipe......I'll get there early enough to have a parking spot relatively close to the gate.......makes going back to the truck for lunch cookout.

I'll be there Sat-Sun..... Flying to St. Louis Int. Airport, meeting up with my uncle and we are driving there from his  house in Dupo, IL. I can't wait, took a week's vacation and 2 personal days to make it this year.

ETA: I bought some Arfcom Logo'd T-Shirts that I'm gonna wear, hopefully I can meet some fellow members.

The shoot should be on every AR enthusiasts "bucket list"

What says the hive about a time/place to meet up?.........the area by the "new" metal bleachers, the first ones you come to when walking in from the gate?   Ideas?    The vendors open at 9AM, so sometime after that, after the initial "search and destroy"(destroy the wallet)

Recently retired, will now get to go Friday and Saturday.  Hope to meet some fellow Tribesmen and also find parts to complete a build.  I bought an M16A1 upper several years ago and want it to be my first retirement project.

Dang,  I fired up the cooker for first time this year yesterday and smoked a nice pork butt.  I use my own homebrewed rubs and sauce.  Meat took the hickory with no problem.  I split it in two containers and put one in the freezer was probably 5 lbs total after sliced and diced.  Dang if we didn't eat the first container and I pulled the other container out to thaw for the weekend.  Interesting how people do it a little different depending on geographical region.  Hard to beat good pig off the smoker even with simple salt and pepper.  Get creative with the spices and one can sell it for big coins.

Jhud's offer to cook is outstanding.  In my neck of the woods it's usually me or one other guy who actually cooks better than me who do most all the cooking.  Now that I don't drink,  I don't get out as much but I've stayed up nursing a fire,  stirring the pot and drinking cold beer,  hundreds of times even feeding 50 or more.

Most any VA country boy knows what to do with a pig and I really don't think I've even had any homebrewed swine that wasn't mouth watering.  Not to mention the White Lightning.  Chilli is usually spot on also.  Never really done much grilling of sausages.  I raise my own tomato's and peppers from my own cross polinated seeds and they make most everything a little better than store bought throughout the year.  Really not worth the effort but it's what I do.

To get the lucky one's going to the Creek geared up to eat here's a pic of tonight's dinner.  Oink! Oink.  Little on the starchy side but dang tasty none the less.  Chops were $1.12/lb,  biggest darn chop I've ever seen,  gonna have to fry all by it's lonesome.  My wife walks in the door and says "it's not ready yet?,  what's taking so long?"  Not to mention I spent all day getting the tiller to run top flight and tilling the soil.

Total cost was less than $10  including Canola, Dawn and we're stuffed.  Typical southern VA meal.  Not many restaurant's in town that can fix food as good.  Will say Cracker Barrel tries and comes close.  2 hrs of my time  from start to finish including the washed dishes.  Didn't bother with the corn.  I've been doing this going on 30 years and only eat out if I need a cleansing.  Have never worked in the food industry but most sell my pig for $7 plus a pound if I'll cook it for them.  The africans on the toll road used to say "Dave can sure burn in the kitchen".  My cakes and brownies are RBRD addictive.  Most are surprised I hover around 180lb but exercise and hard work is the key.  Not much I can't cook with my own recipes but I'm not eating entrails except sausage or hot dogs.  I put 1/3lb of pulled smoked pork in the beans and they are badass.  The garlic smushed taters won't too shabby either. DW is from the early 80's and is used for pot and pan storage only.  I wash by hand.  Sorry no toes.

I couldn't bring any of my rifles... the airline wouldn't like that, my uncle is bringing his M2 Carbine, a 1919 in 8mm and a pair of Uzi's. I'll be wearing a blue shirt that says UCONN on it under a long sleaved flannel, not sure how long the drive is gonna be from IL, but we are leaving Thursday P.M. and driving through the night. I'll IM you my number so we can text and hopefully meetup. I got a laundry list of parts I'm looking for, and another Retro member called me asking for a lead on a F/A M16. I'm pretty excited...

That's why I'm wearing a flannel over it. lol. Just don't forget the propane or fuel for your coleman stove, if it's a propane stove those little cylanders run out fast if your constantly cooking. I have one and it's only a 2 burner stove, not too efficient.....

Not gonna make the BBQ.  Too bad, it sounds great.  I'll be down on the subgun range all weekend wearing a red t-shirt.  It should be a fun match to watch!

This will be my first time going . . . I've only owned an AR for the past 3-4 years, but heard about this event from a coworker that shoots.

I'll be getting there probably around 2PM'ish . . . leaving pretty early Friday morning from the Milwaukee area.

I'm still a newb to this, but it would be great to meet some people in person vs online.  i'll look for the BFL . . . I'll be wearing a khaki cap with the BFL.

Hope to see you gents there.

No one that I have talked to in central Illinois is heading there.  I usually fly (private aircraft) to the airport and rent a car.  I was there for the past 3 shoots.  Probably going to sit this one out.
