THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
So here is the upper stuff ready to go together. I do have the charging handle, just forgot to put it in the picture. I am waiting on some original Colt HG's but in the meantime have these like new "unknown" 6 hole ones.

Here is the question on trigger guard. Got a grey one and started cleaning it up... buffed it a little and it showed some bronze hue... I show it here next to a black one. Wondering if I should use it for this build or get a standard grey one. All the other parts on this build are pretty pristine so I was thinking a straight grey one. (of course that may mean I start looking for a bronze hue lower for another build... damn this RBRD!)

Thoughts?

Sure would love to find a dimpled safety for my 601!

You sir have just started your next build.
Get a grey one from boywonder777 and use the bronze one for your next build.

Seems like a quorum. Sine all the parts you have are pristine, NIW, you should really do everything new. That's really the reason I wanted you to have that stock. Sorry again for the brain fart, but seems like you have a ways to go. I would contact HeatNbeat and see if he's got any parts like mag button and maybe some dimpled FCG pins in stock. I may have a reciever extension for you, but you'll have to have John Thomas or someone reanodize it grey for you.

Morg - Just showed the upper because thats what I was working on! I have the mag button, LPK, NDS lower receiver, etc. The grip I have is mottled so may be picking up a matte black one since I am guessing your stock is flat black. So next pics will be more complete.

So help me with take down pins - Dimpled? What about the safety?
Thanks,
Mike

Do what you like.
but I don't think a 651 would have dimpled pins (unless they were spares that an armorer threw in)
And I'd say a no tick safety.

You're absolutely right - but I say do it anyway! Remember, 651s and 652s were likely export models, and Colt seems to have had a penchant for using up 'obsolete' parts off their shelf on export models. The flat slip ring is a good example. Who says they didn't have a few dimpled pins lying around. I would just do the FCG pins myself - wouldn't use them on the takedown, but that's me. Just a 'personal' touch. You are right though - they likely would not have had dimpled pins, so if the OP wants to be correct, he shouldn't use them. I think I'd still use a dimpled takedown pin on a Mk18 build! (Hell, some guys are putting teardrop FA's on the thing in the field...why not?)

Like mentioned above, get a grey TG and use the gold one for your next build. Resistance is futile....you WILL build a golden gun!

Oh, and just in case you need some "golden inspiration".....some Hydramatic gold.
