I finally got my Wife to the range...it only took 28 years of marriage. I wanted her to shoot one of my AR's, but it was too small for her. She liked the Garand becuse the size suited her build. I am so proud of her!

Halschick, glad you were able to get your wife to the range and she found a rifle she liked. She looks like she is enjoying herself. Glad she is a part of the thread.

Agreed!

Thanks for the bad-ass pic, man...

Blondie: Thanked 'em from the both of you! Her fiancee is new to rifles and had a lot of fun, as well as learning a few things from the "old farts"(my friends who have known TG since she was a gawky teenager who tagged along with her Papa on range visits) who brought the guns out for them to shoot. He and TG impressed my friends and I by sitting still and listening to us old dudes yak about the history of the guns they were going to be firing that day. We didn't catch them rolling their eyes or yawning once..

Howdy, Blondie! Welcome to the site, I must have missed this. I'm really glad to see this thread still going.

I found some pictures of Anna that I don't think I've posted. She didn't actually smoke, these are just posed.

Here's another one of Bertha the same day. It's amazing....she can shoot the Garand either left or right handed with equal accuracy and can group around 4-5 inches at 100yds....a real "natural". She claims the Garand still feels too small for her. I'm thinking of buying her one of the BAR's from Ohio Ordnance. That should fit her well. She also wants to go to a Cowboy shoot-out this weekend.

Very cool pics. OP, Barrett 50 cal would probably work to. My wife won't shoot anything but .22LR and M-1 carbine and with prices of ammo it's more .22LR. Think it's a noise recoil thing. She did have a Diamondback 38 before we met but sold it when her ex was murdered by his new wife with a similar piece. I'm really surprised I can even get her out with the ticks to even do a little target shooting but once there she really enjoys it. Same with going to the beach except no ticks.

As long as she is wearing a sports bra, she is OK. She's really a tough lady. I actually think she likes the feeling of the hot brass hitting her. I like CD's idea about the Barrett light 50 for her. It is a lot lighter than the BAR. But, It will have to be the single-shot due to cost. It would be scary if she wanted to hunt with it, though. She would probably like the idea of a two mile kill radius. Honestly, I've never seen anyone take to shooting like her.

Hal thanks for sharing and very cool that she enjoys shooting!
Even more so since she enjoys shooting the M1!

Hey Tex, glad to see you back on the board!
And I figured it was time for Blondie to have her own account instead of me forwarding threads to her all the time

There isn't much made in sporting rifles and shotguns that I haven't shot. No chick pics but once a buddy had two Ruger 77 bolt guns set up left handed and with some pretty nice glass. One was .338 Win Mag and the other was 300 WSM. but no ear protection. The shortmag was in a carbine chassis and weighed around 8 lbs. He gave me a box of 20 for each. I shot them and was pretty impressed with accuracy and knock down power and the flame that came out the end of the shortmag. I fired the 40 rds and he asked me if it caused any hearing problems. I said no everything was fine. About an hour later I was deaf as a door knob and kinda scared sh$tless. Luckily my hearing came back about two hours later as I was becoming a little concerned. "Jethro Tull Concert" at 130 plus dbl had nothing on this experience. Have used hearing protection ever since religiously. Gotta love a girl with a garand. Too small! Only thing impresses me more is the female Russiam snipers in WWII. Got a Mosin Nagant she can try? Mine kicks harder than a mule. Hot brass down the blouse would definately be a little different.

I'm not sure if Bert really likes the hot brass thing. I think she was just trying to act tough.

The Wife has authorized me to post this one of her. She's got my Colt model 1903 Pocket Hammerless there. She's dressed for a "Roaring '20's" themed party and the gun was so totally appropriate.

She says some of the girls in this thread need to eat more too!

She looks a like my ex....Elizabeth. She'd fire the AR15 but got really spooked out on the HK91. I begged and begged, but she just wouldn't shoot .308. Too late for pics, she's long gone.

Hal,

What a coincidence - my first Wife's name was Elizabeth also. She also disliked the big bore stuff. She passed away many years ago of heart disease. I just couldn't stop her from eating the fatty foods. She had so many stents in her, that I thought I was going to have to register her as an NFA Firearm. Rest in Peace, Beth.

Rriggs, Appears like ya'll had a grand time at the VN Memorial and survived. Hard to believe DC is the Mecca of Govt in this country isn't it? We've had the Virginia War Memorial about 20 minutes from my house for as long as I can remember. Nothing like DC but very nicely done, none the less and a decent view of the the James River at the fall line. seperating our coastal plain from piedmont for todays geography/geology lesson. Interesting enough is all along the river heading east from that point were southern prisoner of war camps during the Civil War very similar to what you were observing on the Potomac in DC except the sides changed.

Again, very nice carbine. Guessing you're chomping at the bit to burn some ammo. Not sure if I'm sold on the blue fingernail polish but I guess it's youthful. She sure has the favorite x-mas present look with your new to you carbine.

We need more tattoos on the Women!!
Don't think I'm allowed to show the wife's black widow spider tattoo. Maybe 25 yrs ago. She likes tattoos more than shooting for sure. Think she got divorced over her ex spending the mortgage coins on sleeved tattoos.
