How much is a no-drain hole handguard worth?? I believe one of my m16a1 triangular handguards is no drain hole. Is there anywhere that I can go to see a picture of the difference between the regular and the ones without the holes. One of mine has very small little round holes and the other doesnt. One of them is also marked with either an L or an R and I'm not sure whether or not its the one with the hole or without. I'll take pictures when I get home. Thanks guys

Ok so I have a no drain hole handguard, is it any more valuable than a later triangle handguard? I have a new set on the way to replace the ones I have so I wouldn't mind selling it. it is the Right side handguard and does not have an L or R stamped on the heatshield. |

Bushmaster doesn't offer 10" barrels anymore...did you buy it used, or was it cut down? who's moderator is it..Bushy's, Bricks...? problem with it being a 10" HBAR is it will be an NFA item, which takes a lot of people out of the market for it, and most retro guys want a lightweight barrel since it would be truer to the original models may be better off trying to sell the barrel and moderator separately |

If the mod doesn't have flats it's likely a Bushy. You can check prices on their website. W/o knowing round count it's hard for me to put a value on it. I just picked up a 10.5" barreled A1 upper in decent shape for $250 for a friend - I know nothing about the barrel, so in the dark as you are, but the upper looks nice, so that should give you an idea. |

Out of curiosity . Several years ago back in 99 , i came across a guy with a bunch of odd ar15 parts. some 1 of kind stuff . but he had some in military foil unfired 1/14 twist barrels , he had 11 of them and offered them to me for $60 each but back in those days (ban days) I was into building carbines with preban lowers. and when he told me they were not chrome lined i turned them down. What would they be worth ?

Hi All I Hope Im Doing This Right On Reply
I Have Had These Parts For 20 Plus Years I Know They Are Original The Pistol Grip And Front Site Are From A Early Carbine Or Survival Rifle Also Have A Carbine Gas Tube With A Short Bend But Cant Remember If It Came With This Stuff Or Not The big question is what are they worth http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r284/lazyr2u/img_1929.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r284/lazyr2u/img_1928.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r284/lazyr2u/img_1935.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r284/lazyr2u/img_1925.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r284/lazyr2u/img_1924.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r284/lazyr2u/img_1921.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r284/lazyr2u/img_1977.jpg |

what is a Colt A1 pencil barrel marked C MP CHROME BORE worth? bore is nice and bright and rifling looks good. it has the front sight post, but it was stripped. i put a trijicon night sight in for the front pin. curious also is it a 1/12 twist? i was kind of hoping it would be at least a 1/9. any idea of value? it is used, but in good condition. definitely NOT new, old stock condition though, but no gouges, huge scratches, bore imperfections, etc. i just mounted it up to my armalite A2 upper. still need a few small parts before its complete, and a bcg and charging handle.

Interior of receiver shows no wear other than bright spot on end of gas tube. Exterior finish on metal and handguards is 98%, rack wear only. I can post pics but only scratches are on the handguard slip ring. Chrome chamber, but not bore. 1969 estimate based on Forum Guide: Chrome on full barrel extension on 1969 barrels and had the new gas tube added in '69. Looks to be original by retaining pin. Trying to decide if it warrants a complete retro build, strip for parts, or dump it and start over with the right parts. Was going to use barrel for another project until I realized how old it was and that it was complete as built. I was just going to un-ban another 'A1 that I had but this uses a different take down pin, has an unchromed bore, and before I make myself too crazy with my options I wanted to know what the value of this was before I potentially commit the modern equivalent of sporterizing a 1903 Springfield. The LM upper in black is worth around $100.00. That A1 port door might get you a little more but it has to be refinished gray. The FN A2 barrel is worth $150-200. But the whole upper together is not correct for any Retro build. |

Hey guys, picked up my first retro parts yesterday at a fun show. I paid 495$ for this upper assembly, how did I do? CH forge code on the receiver, C MP CHROME BORE on the barrel, MPC on the bolt, and a very faint C on the front sight. Seems correct for a 74-82?

I'm gonna assume the three position is a BM also as they were quite popular. The commercial tube if decent should be $15ish. The Colt tube will bring more in auction setting. Figure $50-100 if condition is good and two bidders go at it pretty heavy. Should have a little thread damamge from pin. The BM milspec three positions should bring $20-40 in real nice condition. Only the Colt would sell in my area right now for more than $15 and doubt if you could get $50 for the Colt unless right place at right time. Gonna have to go www to sell in my opinion. Last funshow I could have bought a complete Colt for $225 more than likely, seller had reduced from $300 to $250. Said I was the only person that even knew what it was in two days.

Docsprague –– I'm not too familiar with what the "1" marking is, but for what its worth, I paid 15 each for some Colt mags with the same bottom plate as yours (but no "1" marking on the side) at the fun show 2 weeks ago.

I would think 20-well used and 30 excellent max. A little more than a standard mag. I paid 10 each for mine, but really very few people notice or care about this stuff its just a 20rd mag to them.

Hopefully someone will answer you who has the knowledge base but don't hold your breath. I posted some pictures of my SP1 and it's been all crickets since you posted today. I'm not sure if the thread is just dead or no one is offering appraisals anymore. The best advise I can give you is visit Gun Broker and Guns America to find a similar item as yours. Good luck man.

I think the Internet price for a used pair with scratches is $40. ( ? ) It looks like yours is painted, I would hit it with paint stripper and see how it looks under the paint. Lefts are harder to come by than rights.

I have an AR-15 A2 Govt I purchased new in the early 1990's.
It does not have the bayonet lug and has had less than 1000 rounds fired through it (mostly gun safe dweller). I do not have the box or manual. The serial is a low 4 digit GS number. Any ideas what I should ask for the rifle? I am looking to get rid of it as I just don't shoot it much anymore. Thanks, Rick |

I have a chance at this, according to the guy the serial number puts it in 68-69. he wants $1200 for it does this seam like a fair price?

Thanks, Mike Not to knit-pick, Mike - but looks like you have your sling mounted on backwards (The metal clip of the M1 sling is meant to hook onto the rear swivel, rather than the front.). As far as an appraisal goes - Looks to be made sometime in 1964... I would say it's worth somewhere between $2500-$2800 as pictured with all period-correct accessories, though you could fetch maybe twice that if sold through an auction-site... Just a guess/YMMV...
