I found 360 rounds of 5.56 ammunition boxed up in 30 rounds per box labeled M1A3. the headstamp is 87-13. Anyone know anything about this stuff? brass cased, fmj rounds. I haven't bought it yet, but I might if it is worth .28 a round.

I tried search, and couldn't find anything on it.

South African surplus. No personal Experience with it.

thanks Jed. I thought it may have been an earlier US round. Really good looking stuff, though.

South African, usually mid 80's, near-exact equivalent to US M193 ball.

Excellent ammo, not reloadable, [berdan primers]. As hot or hotter then LC 5.56 M193.

I've fired lots of it with no problems, as good or better than U.S. gov't issue M193

$0.28 per round? Hell, I'd buy it.

The M1A3 was one of the better lots of South African. Chronoed within M193 spec. We used to buy at $0.12/round back when it was being imported. Good Stuff!
