Could someone please tell me what year these were introduced. The one I have is not relieved on the side. Was told it was off a Colt M-16. Sorry no pics. Looks just like an A-2 round plunger but much larger diameter. Thanks.

I ordered some spare forward asists in '75 and got that type - first time I ever saw one.

Ive never seen this. How can it be bigger than the A2/ M4 plunger?

Fathead early A2 plunger.

Seen with or without shaved sides.  The shaved sides are there so it can clear A2 lowers, I guess the first ones were used with A1 lowers.

Thanks all for the response. Thought early A-2 but wasn't sure. Wrong forum, right answer.

The large diameter FA I've got has the relief cut.
I think I've had it on my A2 for at least 15 years,
I can still remember buying it at the first Bluegrass
Armory here in Louisville (when they were on Preston
Street).

Damn its been a loooong time.

M16A1 Elisco made "large domed round"
M16A1/M16A1 "large round" with relief cut on left to clear M16A2 lower reinforcement

Yeah, I had just bought one from this guy a couple of weeks ago. It was new. I ended up putting it on the .458 Socom so I could have the teardrop for the IDF carbine I'm about to finish.
