Here's mine, been swapping parts out for awhile now to get it back to retroish (653), started out in the early 80's as a 16 inch H-bar,
A1/C7 upper, plastic stock, replaced upper, PM A1 with correct ejection door, correct Colt rear sight assembly, M1S light weight barrel
with A1 flash hider, flat slip ring, 6 hole hand guards, A1 grip, EA aluminum stock and stoner (member) made buffer tube lock ring.

E is the 5th letter.  C is the 3rd letter.  E+C should equal H.  So XM177H9

If you convert model 629 to letters you get FBI. Clearly a government conspiracy at foot.

Here is my XM177E2 clone.

It's a Nodak Spud A1 lower with a Nodak Spud A1 upper with FA and no shell deflector.  Two position metal butt stock, six hole forearm, flashing & bayonet lug removed from FSB, A1 pistol grip, .625" 11.5" barrel and it was engraved by Ident.  I have a fake moderator and grenade ring that was made by Brick, but I think the gun looks cool without it attached. It was engraved by Ident.

I thought that I bought the moderator from Bravo45, but it was Brick that made it for me.  Sorry for the confusion.

I sent the paperwork in for three SBRs back in February 2013 and just got them back the other day.  I started on this gun in 2011 and it took me a while to find all of the parts.  Then waiting for the stamp was agrravating.

The others were a MK18 MOD1 clone and an Uzi.

As you note, not exactly "correct," but I like it anyway.

(My "pseudo-retro XM-177" project gun is very similar).

It's a BCM 14.5.

Most of my ammo is 62 grain, so I avoid 1/12 barrels.

OK, might as well jump in. Here's my two. Not a fanatic about a particular model designation, just love the early era Viet Nam guns. Both have NoDak Spud receivers. I really like the transitional mag fence. The lower one has the "worn look" applied, but it doesn't show up well in these pics. Looks more like new like the top one. The lower is slated to become an SBR.....just waiting on papers. Had a local smith added the flash hider but he did a hack job. Wasn't too upset since it will get chopped once approved and going down to 10.3" with 4.5" moderator. needless to say, I don't take him any more work. :-)

The top one has actual Colt stock and hand guard. The lower one has some aftermarket stock and hand guard? While I have added a few dodads to each, they can quickly be stripped back down to the basics. The only improvement to the top one is a six position buffer tube, but it is in Colt gray, so looks fine with stock extended. Both of them have gray buffers, instead of the current black.

Wish someone would do a run of buffer lock rings in the early style, gray, with out the castle nut grooves. You just can't find those without buying a whole SP1 carbine!

Junk! Man, how do you post a picture? Does it HAVE to be from a photo server on the internet? I don't mind uploading to a specific site (this one) but not a general photo server.....

Why do you have the comp? Do you put that upper on a featureless lower? Otherwise you don't need the comp. Nice rifle, regardless.

Pic thread - if it's allowed in here. My home brew mix master.

I guess this can go here since theres diff calibers, middys, etc here..all in the spirit of a retro shorty . Retro-ish XM177E2 pistol. A1/603 upper(bought new at a gun show in 1980). SP1 BCG. Anderson lower. A1 grip off my old SP1. J&T light weight 11.5". BM 4.5" FH. Guntec buffer tube with Sig brace.

I've had these mags since the late 70s.

Is that one of the newer repro stocks? I need to pick up a CAR stock badly, but I can't seem to find any reviews of the repro stocks, and damn it's painful to spend $100 bucks on the real deal. Hard to find info on the repros, other than snippets here and there.

Hello from Switzerland,

Here's my original Colt AR-15 A2 Sporter II Carbine, or a late R6420 with deflector and round forward assist, if you prefer.

It is essentially new. Except a little scratch, everything is in mint condition and the barrel is mirror-like. I did not expect finding one over here (at such a reasonable price!), so when I ran into the offer, I did not think twice about buying it.

I plan on leaving it like it is, just because it need not anything more !

Cheers,

Robin
