[Last Edit: Couch-Commando]
I did a search for the Retro picture thread which turned up nothing.  Am I just typing in the wrong things?  If so,  please post a link.  Any info is appreciated.

Couch-Commando

I've turned this into retro thread 2 but I would still like the origional link.  ARFCOM tradition dictates that I should put a link of the old one.

*drool*

You oughta slap an XM177E2 non-NFA moderator on there and make it look like an "XM177E2 clone".

I'm in with an old pic.

Since I've been receiving several private messages requesting info, here's what it is:

The lower is a Group Industries M16 registered receiver (machinegun).  This is an NFA firearm so it is legal to use a barrel that is less than 16 inches.  The barrel as seen in the pic is actually 11.5 inches.    Even with the screw on moderator in place, the overall length of the barrel and moderator is less than 16 inches.  The reproduction moderator was purchased from Total Silence.  This configuration closely resembles the GAU -5A/A.

Seriously though, very nice.

I just got back from Ft. Lewis, where I was issued a rifle.  A strange rifle, with strange sights, handguards, forward assist and no brass deflector on the upper reciever.  Nowhere on the rifle was AR15 stamped.  No "burst", just "semi" and "auto".  Yesirreee, this was a genuine M16A1, made by Hydra-Matic (G.M. Corp) serial # 3359642.  There wasn't a bit of finish left on the lower, but she didn't hiccup once during the two weeks of field training I had with her.

We were told we didn't have to clean them which astounded me--no weapons cleaning?!?  My joy soon turned bittersweet when I was told the reason:  All these old warhorses (except for the M60s) were headed for the smelter.

Yep my M16 in the Guard in 1989 was a Hydro matic. Sad they are gonna melt them down, at least sell the uppers as surplus.

I'd like to build something like that but with triangular handguards. Great looking gun!  Don't look cheap to me!

Cool 607! If I ever went the 607 route I'd go with the regular tele stock.  I really like the look of those handguards.

Couch-Commando

I sure wish Armalite would make retro slabside M-15 lowers with their origoinal logo. An AR15B would be cool.

Damn, those 607's are sexy!

Where do you get those 607 collapsable stocks from?

Also, does anyone make those old school traingular handuards in mid-length sizes?

I was looking at that AR10B,  and noticed it has A2 sights, a mag fence,  a shell deflector,  and the handguards are attached with a delta ring.  It just doesn't seem to be as much of a "Stoner" rifle as I thought it would be.  Does look like a good rifle though.

Agreed, ArmLite could have done more to make the AR-10B more "correct", but I hey, you take what you can get (with a few mods of course).

Does Total Silence Inc. sell complete rifles, uppers, or lowers? On their home page they have this "Configure your own TSI-15" thing and I got one exactly how I want it but I don't see anywhere that would let me buy something like it on their site. I emailed them a week or 2 ago and haven't recieved an answer (I used the email that said it was to Tom Liemohn, the owner). I'd love to get an SBR XM177E2 clone on an M16A1 type lower. Any help?

Pic is saved to the Quib harddrive archive......so that some day, when the children ask about the GUU-5, the memories will not be lost.

Rest in peace little GUU-5, you served your country with honor.
