Hi, I dont post very often but I read posts all the time. I'm Confused about te ATF ruling on using my Skockwave stock and tube. I dont need any trouble from them. Any idea how this regulation really stands. Im screwed up from multi back surgerys, and its much better with the stock on my shoulder. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Put a pinned attachment on your barrel so the overall length of barrel is 16.1 and never worry about it again.

If for home defense you could probably build a short .300 barrel version upper to shoot only factory defensive ammunition with and keep it at home after sighting it in on a bench.
That way you can shoot the cheaper 5.56 ammo at the range in the longer barrel and still never worry again about shouldering it..........

The Shockwave is not a stock.

This.  It's a "brace."

Its not a stock its an arm brace. That is the official ruling. If you intended to use it is as stock then by ATF thinking you have created an illegal SBR. If you want an SBR then go through the hoops and make it an SBR lower, then you can do pretty much whatever you want as far as stocks, braces and grips.

They backed off that stupid ruling a couple weeks ago...

From reading that letter, its apparent that a blade or arm brace "stock" is not meant to be shouldered and should not be intended to use that way, however if it incidentally touches the shoulder while firing it will not automatically become an unregistered SBR.

If a person plans to use a "pistol" with an arm brace as a shoulder fired weapon then that would be illegal, technically.

You can have it on there, you just can't put it on intending to use it as a stock. If it just so happens to touch your shoulder, you're good to go. Incidental contact is now legal. But if your intent (provable, say, via a public internet posting) was to shoulder it, it's a no go.
