10.5 if I planned on suppressing. 12.5 if not.

You were pretty specific about 10.5 and 12.5.  I'm only asking to just to make sure, but was there a reason not to consider 11.5?  I'm certainly not challenging your choice, and it's definitely a personal call regardless.

My two pistol builds are 10.5 and 11.5.  For a pistol I'm not too hot on going past 11.5 just for the loss of compactness and the almost insignificant gain in ballistics.  If you're set on either 10.5 or 12.5, my vote is for 10.5.

Same here.  I built my pistol with a 10.5" Aero barrel and the Thordsen cheekrest.   Anything longer just seemed too big for a pistol build.

11.5" of course

I agree with ARTNC10. When I built mine, I had decided to go with a  Ballistics Advantage 10.3 lightweight profile barrel to keep it as compact and light weight as possible.  That's the shortest that I'm willing to go, and I believe the shortest barrel that you can use with a CAR gas system. The Navy uses that barrel length with the Mk18 Mod 0 so it can be made to run well.

I went 11.5" to split the difference.  I don't think you can go wrong with anything in the 10.5 to 12.5" range.  If you want the compactness, 10.5" is hard to beat.  If you want to extend your effective range slightly 12.5" makes sense.  If you just can't decide and find a good deal on an 11.5" barrel like I did, you can split the difference.

11.5 BCM ELW upper on BCM pistol lower with MVB Micro Pistol Kit.

OAL = < 26" to end of EFAB, about 24" to end of barrel.
Weight = 5 lbs. - 5 ounces (minus light)

No, 10" was quite common. I've heard 10.3" is because that is the shortest that a muzzle device can screw on and not hit the bayonet lug. 10" commandos didn't have bayonet lugs.
I personally have a 10 and a 10.5. to me if you go any longer you may s we'll get a pin and welded muzzle device and put a stock on it. Just to big, IMO. Heck, I'm thinking about swapping my 10.5 for a 7" barrel.

I went with 11.5. works great and there is just enough room on the front to mount a flashlight in an elzetta mount. If I had to pick 12.5 or 10.5 I would go 10.5 since the 12.5 is just a couple inches away from a 14.7 and I wouldnt need a stamp to make it a rifle.
