I suppose it depends on the tube. My pistol has an Anderson pistol tube kit on it. I only wrapped the back third of the tube. I eyeballed where the charging handle stopped all the way back.

You can probably pick up a nice neoprene tube for cheap off Amazon or Ebay.  They sell them for exercise equipment and you just cut it down a bit.

Though it was only for a short time. The exile machine cover is nice for $8 shipped off of amazon.

I like it  and do you have enough clearance btwn the CH and the cord since you wrapped the whole tube ?

I've done both
I prefer the foam

I wrapped mine in paracord, from end to end. If you wrap it tight enough towards the front with only one layer on top it will clear the charging handle. I liked the way mine felt, plus I had additional cordage if I needed it while out on hunts for any reason.

Me too. The paracord gets pretty funky over time.

I would suspect foam gets funky too over time.

Easy enough to replace if it gets funky. Lol my buffer tube is fat enough no way could I wrap the whole thing. Like I said I suppose it depends on the Tube.

Lol I guess I will try the Paracord first and if I don't like I can always replace with the foam.  The reason I created this thread is to see more about Paracord wrapped with the different Pattern or color perhaps ?

I posted this once before but cannot seem to find the post, so here is the detailed instructions

May have to try that.

Kokodog , thank you and where did you get that rubber thingy ( at the end of tube ) ?

Just looked My Anderson Buffer Tube is stepped.
The back 2/3rds is larger in diameter.
.
The charging handle clears it with no room to put anything where the CH travels. So I can only put something on the end third of the tube.
Link Posted: 8/21/2016 3:51:33 PM EDT
[#26]
I guess you can try to put a few wraps close to the CH to see if it clear ... I will try tomorrow and update it !!!
Link Posted: 8/21/2016 5:09:31 PM EDT
[#27]
I looked there is no clearance. Too bad good idea about just using the outer shell.

I've done two with the PSA tube wrapped with 550.

One in OD and the other in FDE.

The colored cord goes better with other-than-black furniture.

The foam would be easier and probably more comfortable to get a good cheek weld.

Of course with a side charger, clearance isn't a problem.

I see that everyone has the same pattern /wraps but one said it clear the CH and the others said no clearance .... What's going on here ? Depends on the tube that you use perhaps ?

If you have one layer on top the CH should clear it. No knots or lacing on top.

Put all of that on the sides or bottom.

Evidently it depends on make of tube. Mine was a buffer tube pistol kit from Anderson as PSA was out of them at the time. There is no way my charging handle would clear.

Note the step up on the tube.

It's possible.

Another option is to strip out the 550 cord and use it flat.

I see the " step up " on that tube now .... Mine is just flat !

Yeah I looked closely no way there is room for anything. I am glad I didn't spend money on a foam tube. I posted the picture so others would be aware of the Anderson kit and that it cannot be wrapped or accept a full length foam tube. As a kit it works great on my pistol.

Here they are.... Could anyone help me to post as a pic Since I don't have enoygh post to post as an image . The Charging Handle is clear !!!
