I am looking at angled fore grips to equip on my recent 300blkout build. Yes, i have done my research and know it is okay to use an AFG. BUT! i found this Strike Industries grip and they call it a CFG (curved fore grip) You can probably see where im going with this.....
Can i use this on my pistol? its no more than a handstop/afg just renamed...

IMO yes it's fine, however I am not a lawyer or the ATF.

The only way to be sure is to write the ATF and ask. They have given the okay to several similar products like the magpul AFG.

It's a hand stop to keep your hand from going in front of the muzzle.

Critical safety feature.

It looks like a grip that your hand would sit horizontal on rather than changing the hand to true vertical.
Should be fine.

Looks like more of a handstop than a grip. BCM makes something similar they call it a handstop. Stirke industries needs to rename their product a handstop.

If you combined the BCM handstop with one of those 3 gun wall braces you would have the Strike Industries grip.

If Strike had been concerned enough about it they would already have a determination. Ask them.

And now for a different perspective -

If a handstop is needed, which direction is it working? Not forward, unless a pistol is pushed away against sling tension. That isn't the most optimal device for  that considering the limited space - most are under the FSB, not halfway back. But, YMMV.

Pulling the weapon back? Against what part of the body?

See where I'm going?

If you question whether it's being used as a vertical fore grip then I am raising the issue of the weapon being held against the shoulder. I'm no ATF agent but I'm aware they have a bias against that. Worse, a lot of self important range operators and some busy bodies who aren't actual 2A supporters like to make it an issue.

It also goes to how accurate a 10.5" weapon needs to be that it has to have some sort of front handstop to control it. Plenty of youtube video on that with no handstops. And as far as looks go, hanging a bunch of stuff off the front with nothing more than a buffer tube out back creates a nose heavy gun with no visual balance either.

For the same kind of money I'd rather have a binary trigger installed. Those prices will come down soon enough.

It's an AFG

Is it needed? No, but do I want an index point? Yes.
