well I thought it would be cool to try the AAC 51t brakeout 2.0. well i was wrong the concussion is horible on a 7.5 after a few mags of shooting i felt like a truck ran me over let alone the flash was hard to see the target.
think i am going to go back to a flash hider anyone else have experience with somethings you shouldnt have used? |

I got to function test my 7.5 inch today, currently using cheap kak flash can and I must say that the fireball is impressive even in broad daylight.

Brakes and short barrels don't usually mix well. View Quote How short? My 10.5" 5.56 has a brake and it works great. When it has the can mounted, it is a sacrificial baffle. It doesn't have any negatives without the can. It isn't as loud as my 16.5" with a SJC Titan brake. Otherwise, a linear comp is the way to go. |

Made a HUGE difference going from a Saker brake to the KX3 on my 7.5" .556. I don't plan on ever shooting it again without the KX3 or else a Saker556 can. |
|
Levang is cheap and works... I've also used a Kineti-Tech brake/shield on 300blk/6.8 and it works good. Haven't tried one with 223/556.

223/556 doesn't have the most subtle flash from a 7.5". It's inherent with the small bore and slower burning powders used. Here's a comparison someone did on Levang and Troy.
Muzzle flash I thought of hand loading faster powders and heavier bullets to reduce flash, but from my research cycling the action becomes an issue.... so I ended up with a 10.5" and that seems to burn more powder before it leaves the barrel. |

I have the Kineti-Tech Brake/shield on a 7.5" /223 and it works great. Just put it together this weekend and only got to put 10 rounds through it, but I'm impressed with it's function. Price is nice as well about 50.00 bucs.

I actually like the KX3 best for short barrels. yup Made a HUGE difference going from a Saker brake to the KX3 on my 7.5" .556. I don't plan on ever shooting it again without the KX3 or else a Saker556 can. I have a Saker brake on my 7" 7.62x39 I shot it ONCE without the can no earpro, It was ridiculously loud and concussive |

I have considered using my JP Tank Brake on the 7.5. It might make me less popular at indoor ranges, however.

I'm building a 10.5" barreled AR308. It will start out with a brake. I'll have to get some action pics up when I get it together. Then we'll see how long the brake stays.

KX3 or similar is the way to go.
My 7.5" with KX3 feels like a 20" with an A2 to the shooter, as far as concussion. |

PWS CQB is expensive and kind of heavy, but makes a huge difference in noise and the fireball is just gone. I don't like the extra length, but it's so impressive I'm leaving it on. |

There is really no point to a brake on an AR anyway. Get a vortex type flash hider. Your welcome.

I tried several and was not pleased with concussion suppression except for the krink style but it looked like a tumor on the nose of a runway model. I found someone on Armslist willing to trade me my 7.5 for his 10.5 along with handguards and brakes and I was never happier.

I have a Black River Tactical Covert Comp on my 7.5 pistol. Comparing it to a standard A2 on my 10.5 it is downright pleasant to shoot. The 7.5 has significantly less concussion with this brake compared to the 10.5. I can't speak much to the flash suppression, but I haven't seen any fireballs with my reloads in the afternoon.

The Phantoms are just as effective,
as well as the A2's. John Quoted:

I'm a big fan of the PWS and the KX3 muzzle devices. I've wanted a flaming pig ever since my buddy got his on a rainier upper!

PIG Brake works awesome and is as loud as a 16" to anyone beside or behind you. It makes a 7.5 about an 1" shorter than a 10.5" so keep that in mind.
Troy Claymore works well and keeps your 7.5 a little shorter |

Troy Claymore works well and keeps your 7.5 a little shorter View Quote I have one of the KAK's flash cans and they are great for the money. It is basically a PIG without the inflated price. I would go with the Claymore if had it to do over just for the look. I have changed my way of thinking on pistol/SBR barrels since building a few. My 7.5 with the flash can is less than an inch shorter than a 10.5' with most muzzle devices. I would rather have the extra length be taken up by usable barrel length for velocity and possible accuracy reasons. |

Not exactly... The KX3 is an updated Krink brake, while the flash can is just an aluminum cone. http://www.10-8forums.com/ubbthreads/postimages/10475-kx3_b.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I've not noticed any difference shooting my 7.5 pistol that has the dpms levang on it and my 16inch with a rainer arms brake on it.
Cheap and effective. |

Any issues fabricating a krink type break from 925 Inconel? Got some scrap to use up.

Does anyone have a link to the OG patent? I don't want to inadvertently make a suppressor :-/ |
