Going to be running a 10.5" upper with either a 9 or 10" keymod rail.

Looking for a muzzle device to help mitigate recoil rise.....,leaning towards the bcm comp...... But I read that with such a short barrel, running a comp will not be pleasant shooting. The concussion will be hard....

I can also get a flash can that sends all that blast forward away from me,.. Thoughts?

IMHO, either an A2 or a linear of whatever flavor you prefer.  I'm not a competition / 3 gun shooter and don't have a comp/brake on any of my rifles (exception for if I ever get a .50 BMG).

I can tell you that my A2 on my 10.5" is more than loud enough.

I have a 7.5" with a flash can.... I think it does the job fine with blast, but I would like more muzzle flip control. Just looking for something different with better performance.

I've got an 8.5" 300 Blackout pistol.  On my 16" 300 I've got an AAC 51T ratchet 'Blackout' flash hider.  Decided to get a matching muzzle device for the Pistol so I could share suppressors.  Did the same for one of my 16" 5.56 setups.

I ended up purchasing a couple of the AAC Brakeout compensators as they share the same 51T suppressor attachment.  On the 300 Blackout pistol with the 7.62 Brakeout the muzzle blast isn't too bad but definitely more pronounced than the A2 flash hider previously mounted.  It does reduce muzzle movement and recoil as advertised.  It's a nice one-handed shooter.

Now on the 5.56 Brakeout the muzzle blast is horrendous.  You can feel the concussion of a discharge in a BIG way.  Loudest damned AR I've been around.  Depending on environment, you can see the steam or dust disturbance in three distinct directions when firing hot .223 or 5.56 NATO loadings.  Pretty impressive!

I understand that there are plenty of compensators that work similar to, or greater than the AAC offering.  On my setup I did notice a difference between A2 and Brakeout.  YMMV.

Check out Spikes "Barking Spider". While it doesn't have comp ports, the weight accomplishes the same effect. It does a great job of directing the blast forward, and is much more pleasent for my neighbors on the line than my PWS comp (even on a short 8" bbl vs. 14.5 on the PWS)

I'd look into what suppressor you might want to purchase and put on the proper muzzle device for the one you choose.

In that case.  Double up on ear pro and blast away.

I went for flash suppression, since this is my HD weapon. AAC Blackout.

How's the concussion? Muzzle flip? Compared to a A2?

it does a decent job of pushing the concusion forward

but it's a tad punchy under a shoot house roof

Nothing noticeable whatsoever. At least compared to my 11.5" (A2) 14.5s, or 16s.

About the same as an A1/A2. Muzzle flip isn't an issue for me.Might be for someone else tho.

Anything I have that is less than 14 inches is going to have a linear comp. Not only for my sake but whoever i am shooting with or around.

Griffin Comp on 11 inch (heavy profile) barrel. Holds muzzle down very well, no fireball at dusk, and regular ear pro is fine (even standing within 3 feet to the side) OUTDOORS. I have shot in an enclosed space.

I don't mind the blast of a 10.5" with an A2 hider, but an STD will make it more pleasant.
