I picked up the Spikes 8.1 couple months back, thing is an absolute hoot. Have about 800 mixed rounds through it, Consistency-wise mine seems to like the Prvi 223 55gr the best but have had no failures of any kind, it just runs.

Enjoy,

Thanks for the heads up. I will post pics when I get out of work. I am sooo late. They suggested since I am suppressing it to get a heavy buffer spring. They have their "barking spider"....any ideas on suppressors?

Thanks, going to a lawyer this week to do the trust and I am thinking a magpul moe stock and vfg with a pa dot. Also doing the dynacomp with barking spider v2. Anyone have other suggestions. I don't think I will suppress it. Not enough money. I have to add a heavier buffer spring as well for the over gassing

Gentlemen, I am going to need some advice. This is going to be my go to weapon. I just like it better than my 16 inch AR and my Ak. Other than a suppressor, what do you all think of the barking spider, dynacomp combo? Need suggestions on a light too.

Go to weapon for what? Home defense? If so, I hope the Dynacomp combo isn't as loud as a Dynacomp. Not something you want to shoot indoors.

I got the Barking Spider and was going to go shooting. I took apart the pistol to clean first and noticed the keys are not staked correctly. Ugh. I emailed Spikes. John specifically who has been awesome to deal with. I will follow up with what they say.

Is this staked properly? Spike's says it is. My Colt has a lot more staking than this.

The metal is displaced into the screws. If it was done any deeper it wouldn't work any better.
Link Posted: 2/6/2015 1:24:10 PM EDT
[#20]
The metal sits adjacent to the screws. The picture is fuzzy. I have to get a better one.

If anything wrong with that stake job maybe the back screw staking as it might be just a touch light, I'd shoot the thing and not even give it a second thought.

Ok. Thanks guys. Spikes shot me down pretty quick saying it was properly staked and I wanted to check with you guys before I bothered them even more.

Bad pic, but from what I can tell it looks decent.  I wouldn't have any complaints.

(Keep in mind that some people on ARFCOM go a little overboard when it comes to gas key staking. )

This is my 3rd Spikes lower, I went to the store once and they were closed for inventory. I was disappointed. Anything worth seeing?

It's a nice facility. The showroom is very small but they have a lot of their rifles on display. Their receptionist is beautiful and John the Customer Rep is very helpful.

I wrapped the buffer tube and put on the Barking Spider. Bought a new carry bag for her too.

Looks good. I'm interested in your take on the Barking Spyder

Haven't shot it yet. I will let you know as soon as I do. As far as fit and finish. It is really well constructed and pretty heavy. Someone had said to go with a 9" rail, but I like seeing the krink.

Took off the sports wrap I had on the buffer tube and added a cane tip I got at a medical supply store and purchased a nice cover from Spikes. Does it look bad?

Barking spider did exactly what it was supposed to. People were right next to me and did not complain. No flash of any kind. Many people did come over to see what I was shooting though. Definitely an attention getter.

Eta: range officer came up to me and told me I could not shoulder the buffer tube or use it is a cheek weld. He also said as soon as he walked away whatever I chose to do was my business. He said he just needed to inform me.
