I've got a Spike's 22LR dedicated upper which I want to reassign to a pistol lower. The upper currently has a 16" bbl which I want to get chopped but I'm not sure show short I want to go.

I've checked the ballistics on the 22LR with various barrel lengths and since this pistol would just be for plinking, I'm not overly concerned about this data.

Right now I'm thinking about either 11.5" or 7.5". Any opinion on this?

FWIW, I cannot have a suppressor in my lovely state.

Then I'd probably go with the 7.5" for a great range toy...

Yeah, a 7.5" will put the end of the muzzle just outside of the rail. Sounds like a plan. Thanks for your input.

It will not.
A .22 barrel will have about 1.3" inside the receiver.
Taccom is working on some barrels that will have equivalent length to a 5.56 barrel, meaning an 11.5" .22 barrel will have approximately the same length past the receiver that a 5.56 barrel would.
Much easier to match up a hand guard with.

Yeah you're right. Thanks for reminding me about that. I'll get a dowel to mock up the barrel length with the rail and flash hider. I've decided to go with a 9" Alpha rail instead so I'm going for a longer bbl anyway.
